the sun’s shining down on them as they head towards the tarot car reading tent set up across the park. eric was the one who suggested they go for a tarot card reading to ask about their futures. it had always interested eric, and he was wondering whether he could subtley slip in a question about his potential with romance without it being embarrassing.

“you excited?” he asks dongyoung, linking his arm through his as they walk, his other hand lifting his cup of ice water to his lips to sip it through the long straw. “can’t wait to find out if i’ll be famous or not.” he jokes, knowing full well there’s no chance of that ever happening. the best he can look forward to is a comfy nine to five office job with good benefits and a nice pension. hopefully he’ll have enough for a comfortable sized apartment and enough to support a small family in the future. it’s a lot to hope for, but it’s better than accepting the reality, which is that he’ll more than likely never have any of that.

“anything you wanna ask about? romance? career? health?” he’s curious as to what dongyoung’s natural interest in his fortune will be - some want to know about their potential for wealth, some want to know whether they’ll have good health, and some, like eric, secretly want to know if they’ll ever date someone.

it’s not unheard of for juhee to chance upon the entrances of sopa  --  plenty of her friends had ditched her school when they got their golden ticket to the prestigious performing arts school -- so it wasn’t much of a surprise that she’d be there ( it was after all a quick block or two away from her own high school ). but it was obvious she didn’t belong. from the stark comparisons in their uniforms: bleached white and plain blue skirts always paled in comparison to mustard yellow and and black pleats.

but why was juhee here -- subjecting herself to the anonymous stares of peers she would never really know and their whispers -- eyes looking longingly at the doors that never once held a face she knew? 

it had to do with her mother and her overly friendly nature. while juhee would have very well wanted to forget about the bag in her hands -- her mother had nearly tracked her down during free period and dropped off the kimchi tubs juhee had pretended to forget on her way to school that morning. now, here they were -- in hand and in tact, ready to be delivered to doyoung.

she wonders if she should have texted him about her arrival, but with the sea of yellow fish dispersing from view, it couldn’t be too hard to pick out a fish out of water, could it?

“okay, so to be honest with you, i forgot what flavor you’d said you wanted. so i ordered regular fried, seasoned, and soy sauce. the lady was asking me, like, ‘oh dear, you’re not eating all of this yourself, are you?’ all joking, but i just looked at her dead in the eyes and was like, ‘no, actually, i am.’ she looked at me like i was nuts. it’s getting to be cosplay season soon and i need to bulk the fuck up. then there’s also halloween in october — can you believe it’s already the end of august? fuck, dude.” 

taehyung realizes he’s been standing this entire time with his hands full of chicken boxes and dongyoung’s poor, innocent, doe eyes staring up at him hungrily from their checkered picnic blanket. taehyung was proud of the view the younger boy had managed to find for him while he’d gone to get their food and booze. “could you get that?” he asks then, gesturing to the white plastic bag slung over his arm with two large bottles of cass and accompanying soju. “i’m fucking starving. also, hella ready to get plastered right here.”

once the bag weighing down his arm is care of, taehyung carefully — a man must never be in too much of a hurry when handling fried chicken in a box — sets their food down between them. as for the drinks, he leaves that job to the younger male. “are you a good drinker? i can’t remember.”

it’s not often that pj feels close enough to hang out with someone at night, especially when he’s not entirely sure where they’re going. in this case, he isn’t worrying, because what’s the worst that could happen? he feels like he can at least trust dongyoung not to murder him in some random back alley. they already bonded over a shared love of games, after all; it’s not like he’s hanging out with a complete stranger or something. then he might have something to worry about, but, for now, he feels more than okay.

pj shoves his hands into his pockets, abruptly stopping in his tracks as he turns to dongyoung. he gives the older male a hard stare as he chews his bubble gum, hesitating a moment before speaking. “you sure this place is gonna be good?” it’s obviously not the first arcade pj has been to, but this particular location is new to him. “don’t get me wrong, i trust your judgment and everything... i’ve just never really been there before, so...” pj shrugs, opening the door for dongyoung to say what’s on his mind.

jaebum hasn’t ever been one to have many friends, nor friends at all really. he had learned in his youth that it was best to keep things to himself, because things were easier that way. but of late, people people have began to make their way into jaebum’s life, and he’s not entirely opposed to it for once. it’s actually sort of nice to have people around that he doesn’t detest. for a while, he was able to count the people he cared about and trusted on one hand, but these last few months are proving that the second might just be needed. dongyoung is one of those people.

he’s young, or young in jaebum’s eyes at least. still bright eyed, somewhat has his whole life in front of him. and he’s likes music which gives the two grounds to meet on. jaebum likes talking about music, he’s passionate about it and other things; art, movies, cats and ink but music is his one true love. heck, he went and rented out a whole ass officetel to accommodate his two creative outlets ... one being a source of income but still.

“and this here,” jaebum mutters, carefully opening the door. he reaches inside the dark room and flicks a switch, and the whole room is swallowed by bright lights. “is the other studio.” framed art hangs on the walls in all different styles and colours, although there’s a heavy emphasis on black line work which is of jaebum’s liking. “this is it,” he says peering around the doorway awkwardly, looking at dongyoung with a thin lipped smile. “it still needs a bit of work, but ...”
