Enough
There was nothing I could have with him. Not even a real home, not the safety I had always worked towards.
"They will follow us."
Only him.
"They will find us. There is no escape."
But he smiled. Smiled of all things he could do.
"Yeah, I always thought that, too."
"You don't know how powerful they are."
A shrug with broad shoulders and I started to ask myself if he might have lost his mind. Finally. After all the things he'd survived. And I already felt the pang in my chest that accompanied the thought.
"If someone like you can fall in love with me, starlet, I can also escape a gang and a multi billionaire."
I looked into the oceans he carried as eyes, seeing the worries but also a glint, a truth of all I would ever get with him.
And apparently that was enough.
