Keegan curled in on himself on the edge of the building. It was a steep drop from where he was sitting, but he hardly cared. He could die and he knew it wouldn't make much difference. People like him-- bland people, the brown birds of the world-- were never missed when they died.
His phone went off again, nearly skittering off the edge of the building.
It was normal, but just thinking about his brother made his heart thud in his chest so loud it echoed all the way up to his ears. He hated living with his brother. He hated being away from his parents. He hated that Zach had free reign to hurt and scare him in any way he wanted-- that he had all the time and freedom in the world to take away any sort of innocence Keegan had left.
That was why he rarely came down from on top of the roof. He was safer on the roof... Or, at least, safe from his brother. Himself was another story.
