📚🤐🤺 for anyone in an order!
📚🤐🤺 Are they part of one of the orders of Tyria? Which one? Why did they choose that order? Crusader Sootwalker: Crusader Sootwalker is, as the name implies, a crusader within the Vigil. She’s been a member for quite a while now, although she didn’t exactly join for the most upstanding of reasons. While she’s a skilled fighter, and she can be a terror on the battlefield, a big part of the reason that she joined was that it seemed an easier life than the Legions. Not always on duty, plenty of good food, lower standards... Plus, the respect that comes with it was pretty nice, too. Underneath it all, however, she does earnestly believe in the motto, and she’s not one to shy away from a fight, especially against dragon minions, when it means protecting the innocents of Tyria.
Fyra Shalespine: Fyra is, or was until recently, also a member of the Vigil! It wasn’t even her choice - she was sent to the Vigil ostensibly as a new recruit, though she’d be Ash’s eyes and ears in the field, feeding them information the whole time about the Vigil’s inner workings. After a while, however, she found herself impressed (and wooed) by the Vigil’s morality and their devotion to fighting for the weak, and she formally left Ash to join the Vigil full-time. Although not a standard Vigil operative, she does retain many of her contacts and resources even with her priorities now to Shale Warband.
Graf Towercleave: Graf was, for the recent decade or so, a member of the Vigil! He joined almost immediately after the human-charr ceasefire, searching for new purpose and inspired by Almorra and her story. Plus, fighting in Eastern Ascalon for so long, he certainly picked up a bit of anti-Branded sentiment, and the Vigil seemed like a good route to deal with that (aside from the one-way ticket of the Sentinels). He stuck with the Vigil for a long time, making contacts, acquiring a wealth of skills, and developing a mutual understanding of the humans he’d been fighting against not so long ago. Once Kralkatorrik was defeated, he began reconsidering his path - he’d been away from home for a long time, and now that Kralkatorrik, and the Branded, were finished, he began to feel the pull of the Legions once more, a sense of duty to his people calling him home. So, after Kralkatorrik’s defeat, he left the Vigil and went back to rejoin Blood Legion. He still regrets the timing - perhaps if he’d been there in Bjora, things would have gone differently...
Keele Rustsocket: Keele is actually a member of the Pact - she never traditionally joined one of the Orders proper. When the Pact was formed to combat the elder dragon Zhaitan, Keele was among those that volunteered after the World Summit. She was both motivated by the dire circumstances, and also extremely eager for the opportunity to work with the finest engineers of all the races, and to create works never before seen upon Tyria. Even after Zhaitan’s defeat, she stayed with the Pact, becoming a skilled and valued airship mechanic, sailing into the depths of the jungle, and later into the wreckage of Bloodstone Fen. Nowadays, she works with the Pact’s fleet in the Aerodrome, always tinkering and upgrading them to keep them ready for whatever threat faces the world next.
Ruya Starchaser: Ruya was practically destined for a life in the Priory, and as soon as the option was afforded to her, she joined up. Without a warband behind her (which suited her just fine!), the Legions didn’t have much to offer the paperbound scholar, but the Priory was a perfect match. She joined right up and has never looked back, and she feels more at home than ever. She’s been with the Priory since as an integral part of their astronomical division, and she’s now one of the lead figures in the research group in Istan.
Honorable Mention: Rakk Smokewraith Rakk isn’t technically part of the Order of Whispers, but he might as well be. He’s got a great number of contacts within the Order, and information flows back and forth quite readily. He even does the occasional job for the Order, making him a field agent in all but name. It’s unclear why he’s never officially joined, and whether that reluctance is on his part - or the Order’s.
(( Huh. I have a lot of Vigil characters, and.... hardly any of the other two. Not what I expected. ))
