Keele students!
I know that most of you are probably very busy with your exam revision, but remember that there are currently elections going on, and that voting is open until Monday. It takes two minutes to go on, and it would mean a lot if you could vote Amy Tunstall #1 for SU President. She's wonderful, has really great ideas for the next year and is completely dedicated to Keele students having a safe and enjoyable experience at Keele. You can vote here, http://keelesu.com/yourunion/elections/
Keele University Students Union 1960's vs 2014
Lost a £20 note outside the union this morning! Not hoping for it back, just saying if you found it, enjoy. ~Buy something nice, on me :p go get drunk, if you drink!
Welcome to KeeleSU - narrated by your elected sabbatical officers, telling you everything you need to know about your students' union!
I'm pretty overwhelmed with how well life is going right now. I kind of keep looking over my shoulder, worried that something major is going to go wrong to balance things out the way it always goes, but I'm trying not to think like that anymore.
WEDNESDAY: OH MY GOODNESS. I was working a day shift on the bar, 11am-7pm, and got a call about half twoish to let me know that I've got the RSA role next year. It's an amazing job, voluntary (though you receive free accommodation to help with finances) and wonderful for both the students it helps and the people involved. I got down from 180~ applicants, to 60, to 40, then down to the final 28 getting the role. Wow. I'm honoured and excited, and relieved that I don't have to worry nearly so much about money next year as I have done this year.
THEN OH MY DAYS. I was pretty tired and sore from working and lack of sleep, but I waited after my shift until it was election results time. I got a ridiculous 535 votes for Concourse Editor against a measly 35 for RON (I was expecting 200, but would have been happy with half of that). I'm so happy, I was shocked and thrilled. I can't wait to get stuck in with the magazine a million times more than I am this year. Thank you for any Tumbl-Keelites who voted for me :) every single vote means so much. Please get in touch if you're interested in being involved with the magazine next year. It's fun, a creative outlet, and great experience.
THEN MOST IMPORTANTLY... Vic Taylor got President of the SU. So happy I cried. Good things really do come in threes. Genuinely flooded with tears. She deserves it so much and will do amazing things for our Union. The rest of the Sabbs team is also amazing, there was only one election result I wasn't happy with to be fair, and even the person who won I trust to do good things. Excellent. I can't wait for next year!
One of the American Lit tutors just emailed me asking if I can write him a paragraph about winning the election, and my role for next year so he can put it on the news section of the American Studies website. Wow. I feel blessed~.
I got my hair cut. It's short. I don't like it. But it'll grow on me. *ba dum tish*. Hopefully sooner rather than later. I'll get used to it anyway. It's not that bad, and does feel like a fresh start kind of thing. Cool. Cool cool cool.
A lot of good stuff's happening right now and I'm chuffed, feeling motivated, and like I could achieve any goal. Next stop: weight loss. Sweet. Smashing it.
Talk to meeeeee.
