I just need to get something out there that I’ve wanted to say for a long time. I understand that people are upset that there are racist, sexist, homophobic and offensive comments being made in the Big Brother house, year after year. But this isn’t new. And the outcry to have CBS remove people for these comments is ridiculous. I’m not referring solely to Frank but to anyone from this season and past, and there have been many.
The heart of Big Brother is that it is a social experiment to see what happens when you have people from different walks of life locked in a house together with no distractions but each other. Otherwise, they would be allowed to leave the house and come back to play competitions.
Racism is alive in the country. Sexism is alive. Homophobia is alive. Having these issues happen in the house not only makes it more organic and true to life, but also brings these issues to light instead of sweeping them under the rug. You SHOULD be offended by the things that are said, and you SHOULD talk about it and it SHOULD start that it starts a dialogue. But to say that someone should be removed by CBS for a racist comment just seems ridiculous. The houseguests need to make the decision to not tolerate that, and evict the person. When someone makes an offensive IRL, there’s no production company to remove them.
