Boggans. But seriously.
Tess hates seeing kids put in harm’s way. War’s been a constant for both sides for a hundred years, now, and most children know someone who’s died. The least she can do is minimize their exposure to the fighting or the violence. Anyone who messes with a child—Boggan or Jinn—gets a special place on her shitlist.
She also takes issue with being underestimated or dismissed. The Jinn are a pretty progressive race in that they generally accept gender equality. Doesn’t mean everyone’s on board, however, and Tess has put up with her share of assholes over the years. Some of them have had a change of heart, some haven’t; it hasn’t kept her from moving forward.
Also, don’t mess with her father or insult her mother’s memory. She’ll make you swallow your own teeth.
