It helps our local economy to shop with locally owned businesses. Rarely, if ever, have we promoted a big box store or a strip mall with chains in it. It appears that the corporate world and designers of space are seeing this shift from big box to small box. We are happy to see it taking place and like to think we have had s small part in this. Especially since we were invited to take a tour of the new Waterside addition on Bryant Irvin in west Fort Worth. This place is amazing!! It's designed for sustainability(they have rainwater catchment!), They encourage community interaction, they repurposed much of the old materials from the old buildings that were on the property (used to be the Lockheed recreation park) they hired artists to do art installations using the old merry go round and other things that were on the property, and they built around all of the big, old, trees that made the property so amazing! As I said, we were invited by management to take a tour of the property because they knew we would love it! They are joining forces with Whole Foods and creating an Artisan market on SATURDAY, APRIL 29th from 12-4pm. Their will be live music, free samples, drinks(you can buy beer or wine from Whole Foods and walk around drinking it! That's rad!) and shop for items from local artisans! Mark those calendars.
