Meet & Clean 2019
The city of Hesperia is hosting a new program, Meet & Clean, community clean-up days throughout 2019. Each month they chose a lot in the city to clean up with the help of the community. Anyone can volunteer to help. For this month the Meet & Clean will take place on March 30th at the corner of Farmdale & Krystal (across the street from Krystal Elementary) from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. All supplies provided by the City including gloves, bags & safety vests. No pre-registration is required, all you need to do is show up at the location the morning of the event.
My husband & I went to one in January to help clean up the corner of Eucalyptus & Maple Ave. When we got there everyone was ready to jump in & help clean. I was expecting to find drink bottles & chip bags but I was surprised to find a lot of building materials for homes like drywall & insulation. Since you can’t throw these type of items in the regular trash a lot of illegal dumping happens in vacant lots through out the city.
It’s so important to participate in clean up days like these & other events the city & county hold. By coming together we stand as a community against trashing up our city & promote keeping it beautiful. There are also community days to drop off trash to keep from illegal dumping. If you can’t make this event you can still do so much just in your neighborhood & the places you visit often. #TrashTag is trending on social media where people are collecting trash to show that one person can make a difference.
I encourage you to look into your own city for event such as these to help keep your area clean. If you live in Hesperia come out & help keep it beautiful. One day a month isn’t going to solve our trash problems, but we as a community can stand strong together to make sure we are doing the best that we can for our community and the surrounding cities.
