Season of Waiting
“Patience is a Virtue”. A common phrase that you can hear whenever someone would throw a fit when they are in queue, waiting to be called or served, or just simply pissed off, because they can’t wait any longer.
No one likes waiting, whether it may be from big dreams like when will I be rich to as simple ones like long lines at the grocery store, but truth to the matter is, all of us are waiting.
I know, some of you will say, “what is she talking about?” But believe me, all of us are waiting for something. It may be when will I buy my home or car, when will I get married, when are we going to have a baby, when will I get my promotion, when will my debts be finally paid off, it may also be in a form of healing and moving on.
When we are in this phase, most of the time we feel restless, anxious and stressed. Sometimes, we feel depressed and we tend to question God when things don’t go our way and when we wanted them to. We feel discontent. Some may feel that they would like to give up already and some are angry.
I got married at a young age. I married my highschool sweetheart at 20. Had our first child at 21. It took us a long time before we were able to be at the position that we are right now. At the peak of our success, we thought that everything was already “well”, for God has already blessed us with so much, even more than what we prayed for and expected to accomplish. Challenges are always inevitable. And everyone is sure to face one sooner or later. And as I went thru another one, I am yet again, in my “season of waiting”. But this time, I am waiting to finally move on, heal and be at peace.
It is easy to be discouraged. Giving up is probably the easiest thing to do. A quick escape from our harsh reality. And for a long time, there are countless times when I wanted to give up. It is true that most of the times the bad memories outweighs the good. But looking back, I realized that I had so much to be grateful for than those that I am grieving over. I have realized that, there is a blessing in your season of waiting.
So let me share with you the realizations I had during my OWN season of waiting:
Not getting what you want and when you expect it is sometimes a stroke of luck. It is not because you don’t deserve it, it is because you deserve more.
Waiting is an exercise for patience and trust. It teaches us to be humble, to assess ourselves on the things that we did wrong and what can we do to better the situation. It teaches us to be patient because everything is a process. Success and healing doesn’t happen overnight. You have to do you part and trust the Lord that, whatever situation your in right now, it is only temporary. Better days are coming because God is always with you in every step of the way.
God’s timing is always perfect. We have our own timeline of the things that we want to achieve, but remember that only God has the control of things. He has a plan for you. Trust in God’s timing, because when the time is right, he will indeed make it happen and you will be amazed of how beautiful it is. Sometimes, even more than what you prayed for.
Pray Hard and Work Hard. Put your faith in the Lord because only he can give you what you need. But it is not enough to pray only, you also have to do your part. Remember, faith without action is dead.
Challenges makes us stronger. God uses our waiting season as a way to build our character. Life is not all glitter. Sometimes, it gives us lemons. And in those moments, are we tested. God created challenges to toughen us. Because when you overcome those, you can now do anything.
Our season of waiting teaches us to be appreciative. We tend to take for granted the small things, to see the bigger picture. It is in this season, that when you are in dire need of something, all the small things will count and matter. A simple text message can even sometimes help you brighten your day.
God is Faithful. As I have started a family of my own at a young age, life was really hard, but I saw the provisions that God has provided in unexpected ways. Just about when you thought that there is no hope, boom! God will send something or someone your way to help you. Pray and lift everything to the Lord. You might not get yet your answers right away, it may be days, weeks, months, or even years before he does. But always remember that God will never forsake you and that he promises you hope and a future.
So before I end this blog entry, let me share with you three of my favorite bible verses about the season of waiting. One is the verse that I placed above from Isaiah 60:22 and the two from Ecclesiastes 3:11 and Jeremiah 29:11.
Don’t fret or be discourage when God hasn’t answered yet your prayers. Better days are coming. Just keep up the faith and remember that there is a blessing in your season of waiting. ❤️
