Objectification of One's Self
📁 Primitive UTAU Recording Method . . .
To end the recording section, I would like to discuss and talk about early methods to recording and configuring an UTAU on MacOS. It is important for me to add because Hakken was the last UTAU I had configured this way before learning any new methods.
For perspective, I started doing UTAU activities on MacOS 6 years ago as of writing this! So there wasn't a whole lot to work with back then besides Audacity and UTAU-Synth. Now we have programs such as Recstar, Vlabeler, and OpenUTAU.
Now, I would like to talk about Hakken's development and how he was recorded for this next segment. Disclaimer, this method is NOT recommended as it is very tedious. For Hakken, he was recorded on Voice Memos on iOS, the memo was exported as an m4a, then converted into a WAV. The WAV of continuous recordings were then split into CV-VV format in Audacity, and then he was configured on UTAU-Synth!
For perspective, here is my old recording list opened alongside the Voice Memo application.
Voice memos is the default recording software for iOS, but you can also use this to record your samples. Here in the screenshot I am using the iOS splitview to multitask the recordings and the reclist. To do this, I imported the recording list into the notes app.
This is what life would be like without Recstar! But since Hakken and Ron's *( Ron's now discontinued ) banks are configured this way, it feels important to mention.
Then fall, then come winter.
LOG 001
PROFILE Name: Kazumori Nishina Age: 35 *Deceased Gender: M Occupation: Neurosurgeon
Summary . . .
Hakken's previous life is quite vague to him, things he can remember consists of his knowledge on neuroscience, nutrition, and computers. Since he has no legal identity he is no longer a doctor, being that he is a robot there is no legal way for him to continue his practice. Which his knowledge in computers he now spends his time book keeping and caring for others with his knowledge in nutrition.
In his past life, he went by the name of "Nishina," *(First name unknown.) Nishina was a very soft-spoken, and detached character who seemed mysteriously bothered by simply being. He was more caring and tender to those who were afraid of their medical circumstances. Otherwise he was very quiet with his professional company. Eventually, the young doctor would come to find out he had a building case of tuberculosis. Nishina did not want to sacrifice his position to care for others, so he would continue to hide it until he received his official diagnosis. If Nishina had received treatment sooner he might've had a chance, but for him, receiving care was a bother and he was foreign to the idea of being helped. After having a terrible collapse, Nishina was interviewed and discharged from his service. A few months would elapse during his treatment, and Nishina decided that he was eventually going to die. So he packed his belongings and moved to the countryside where he would study computer science. During his study, he made a robot puppet. This was the beginning to some much larger more threatening task, but assuming he would die prematurely in his labor he had nothing to lose. His goal was to upload his conscious to a puppet, to leave his mortal flesh behind. To be honest, Nishina was afraid of dying. He felt incomplete after having to sacrifice all he knew for himself, when his main purpose was to care for others.
After completing his new vessel, Nishina had to upload his memories to the puppet. This would result in instant death. He already made arrangements for which memories he wanted, and which memories he would omit in his second life. The reason for this was that, he felt that certain memories kept him from loving people naturally. Whether or not his judgement kept him safe. So Nishina decided to forget the faces of people closest to him, his colleagues, friends, peers, and his parents.
Staring at his new body from across the room, Nishina gently pressed the return key.
