New Books, 8-19-22. I didn't expect both of these to arrive at the same time (and, verily, verily, in the same box!), so I don't have anything special to say about them other than this: I don't order books in hardcopy anymore unless I know in advance that I'm going to like them. So, behold, here they are. Twitty, @thecookinggene, has been one of my guides for a number of years now, and so I tend to take what he says as the...uh...gospel truth, no matter the topic. Meanwhile, I've been following @gmm_cheffresh 's career at his Alta Adams restaurant in Los Angeles, where he's making traditional southern/soul dishes work within the expectations of the surrounding "California cuisine." I make it sound easy: The whole point of Corbin's book is to tell the complex story of how he got to where he is. Anyway, I bought these books, so you should buy them too, period. Now I just have to decide which one to read first.
