honestly, the Dreamworks/Voltron people continue to make the most annoying/baffling decisions wrt their social media and promotion.

okay, so steven yeun is busy as hell, currently out of the country, and probably has a contract that lets him limit the amount of press he has to do for the show. that’s FINE. it makes perfect sense that he wouldn’t be able to do a livestream q&a like all the other voice actors.

but even if he couldn’t do a q&a, there’s so many other things they could have done that would have made keith fans happy. or at least made us more happy than barely acknowledging his birthday with one boring clip and a photo where he looks like he’s in pain.

like, steven’s not the only one who contributes to keith?? he’s the voice for other people’s words and art, there are other people who could have given some fun insights to the character??.

the showrunners are already doing press and interviews for the new season, why not do a q&a with them? or some of the writers? or even some of the artists? let us hear those good bts deets about writing or drawing keith.

or why not plan ahead and ask steven to record a short message last time he was in the studio? or even do some kind of quick compilation or best of list, like they did for lance? 

idk if they were trying to skate by and thought if they just didn’t say much people would forget, but it really does suck that there was so much hoopla for everyone else’s, and keith’s bday is being treated like an afterthought. especially coming right off a season where he was absent for half of it and almost killed himself in the finale.

How much usually in advance do they announce birthday events? Considering keith’s is only in like two weeks and nothing has been said.

I wasn’t actually active in the fandom or following news for the show for any of the paladin birthdays except for Lance’s, but going by the official announcements on the show’s twitter.

So it seems like it’s usually about two weeks in advance, but Lance’s birthday was atypical, in that they announced it quite early as part of the podcast special, and announced the birthday livestream quite late.

They haven’t made any official announcements about Keith’s birthday yet, we only know when it is because of the Handbook, but if/when they do, I promise I’ll post about it here!
