Hi everyone, I am going to all of our pages now: our twitter and our Facebook and posting about this livechat. Gonna take a second to get it started - Just a couple more places
So this is going to be a short Keith Answers, I’m going to do probably, like, I don’t know… Let me change the color of that (plays with the white balance on the screen)

Let’s go ahead and just dive right in, shall we, my beautiful little friends? Gotta move my screen so I can see things correctly, alright, so OH!OH! SO MANY THINGS ALREADY!
How are the new servers going to make the game lag-free?
I didn’t say Lag Free, I said faster, so just let me start right there. We will never be lag free just like Facebook will never be lag free, just like twitter will never be lag free, just like tumblr will never be lag free. I’m not comparing us to those sites because they have a lot more users. Essentially, to make it a little complicated, is we are taking our one database server that has all of our stuff in it (holds up tardis decorated phone) let’s pretend this is our database server and we’re going to turn it into three database servers that are all sharing data. (holds up a Pepsi can and a coffee mug) So right now we have 46 GB of ram on our db server and after this update we’re going to have 96 GB of ram, so that’s a lot more space to hold our of our stuff and memory. BLahblahblah BLahblahblah BLahblahblah Technical stuff. Essentially it’s going to make the site much faster and will have the added benefit of nightly/daily backups so if anything does happen, the site explodes, we’ll have a backup from the day before to pop in there. Whereas right now, it’s hard for us to make backups because to make backups we either have to take the site offline or make the site really really slow for like 4 hours to do it. It’s going to make it much faster and much better and secure.

Will you be releasing more tier 12 question-weapons?
Somewhere down the line? I think that there’s like, a lot of those right now. More than other tiers with the same amount of users, so I don’t know. Probably not, I don’t know.
Is there any news on Mazes and Mahars?
No. The thing about Mazes and Mahars is that it is very art intensive and we’re going to have to put a lot of art work, it’s something we’ve already put a lot of art work into. So to finish it, it would have to happen around times where we don’t have other things going on, which means things like other events, other plots, other really … anything. We have a lot of other things going on through the year so it’ll just have to be at a time we don’t have anything else going on.
Any other updates coming soon?

Yes! We do have a lot of updates coming soon. Those of you who are gold account users saw the updated layout and those of you who aren’t gold account users, I’ll let you in on a little secret. We are completely changing the layout of the site. We are changing the layout from the top to the bottom, we’re redoing a lot of the programming, right now I am busy rewriting the forums… which, I wonder if this can show my screen… let me do som-how’s this angle? I’m going to do some programming things real fast… to check out the new layout... And let’s see if I can share my screen. Looks like I may be able to- Just note that this is nowhere near finished, this is like two weeks ago, programming-wise. I’ve been doing a lot of the internal stuff but not the external stuff. You can see here, sort of what the new layout will look like. Ignore the fact that my avatar is in all of these things and stuff like that but mostly you saw the new layout up here. It’s not nearly finished, of course. Like, none of these (drop down menus) have the correct things in them. This is right, look at how much sp I have! These (events) are obviously supposed to be clickable to get rid of and they would have categories and stuff like that. Widgets aren’t even loading, but now I am going to go back to my chat? Oh, screenshot off.
So that’s an idea of what we’re working on right now, we’re doing a lot of stuff, we’re working on REALLY loads of things. So the reason you haven’t seen a lot of new things on the site recently is because we are really every programmer is on this, working on some part of the new site including the new wardrobe , the new converting all the pages to work with the new style, that sort of stuff. LOTS OF WORK.
Yes, the new layout will destroy custom CSS. When we are testing the new layout, because it’s not just going to happen overnight, it’s not just going to appear, not just like OH, NEW LAYOUT. We’re going to put it up for testing, so everyone will be able to see it and see what happens to their custom CSS, things like that. We’ll have people running around it for probably about a month before we force it on everybody so you can see pretty much everything. After that month period, we aren’t going to let people use that old layout. That old layout is going to go away.
Have I personally beat the last level of Leviathan Harpooning?
No.

Let me see, I can actually show you guys some more cool things. Let me favorite that… This one has not been shown on the GA forums or pretty much anywhere yet, staff members have seen it, but otherwise this is pretty much not shown anywhere. So this is the new achievements page, keeping up with the clean feeling of what you saw before. These are your achievements and down here is one that is being worked on-can I actually gah. Are you thinking of more options for new players? I found out that rs isn’t rentable. Also, you should advertise the site.
What’s not rentable? RS? What’s RS? I don’t know what users are saying.
Are any quests being updated?
All of the quests are being updated, it’s not on the backburner, but it is going to go out with the overall site update. People will hate me less because they’ll have so much to hate overall that they won’t be able to yell at me over the quest changes.
Any advice for new players?
Be nice… Make friends…. Go on the forums….[i]buy cash shop credits[/i]
(Laughs) I’m kidding, don’t buy-well, I mean you can by Cash Shop Credits if you want to, but you don’t have to because I told you to.
I think with Subeta and pretty much any game like this is that you enjoy the game a lot more when you get social. A lot of people just stay in their little corner, but when you go on the forums and make friends things get a lot better. You have people sending you stuff, you have people to send stuff to… All that sort of thingstuff. Words are not coming out of my mouth properly. You have a lot more to do and people to play with.
I heard a rumor that Wizard quests are being updated soon?
Wizard quests updates are done, I just want to put then out with all the other ones since we had a little bit of a problem with Sagittarius… you know, throw in a couple billions of sp into the system… I don’t want to put out the wizard quests but I may do it anyway because he, in the revamped version, only gives out coins, no more sp. Uh oh! So it’s still a lot of balance.
How do you get CSC without giving money to the site?
Buy CSC from other users, buy the items you are specifically looking for from other users, all that sort of stuff.
Are the volume 11 offers ever coming back to the cash shop?
I hope so, we all hope so but they haven’t gone through the effort to tell us they fixed the issue with their videos. Which was an issue that we didn’t have.
Any cool updates in the future?
We’re going to keep showing you layout updates and that and we hope to have testing up soonish…
Will non-US people ever have the chance to be hired?
Probably not. We’re just not big enough to have branches in other countries and pay taxes to other countries and all that stuff. It’s a problem we wish we could work out and hire as many people as we want, but we can’t because money is not growing on trees, apparently.

How are cult revamps coming along?
Well, we’re combining them with the forum revamp and we’re actually renaming them I decided the other day. I tweeted and facebook’d about it just asking if anybody had any other ideas. So we’re going to change them from cults to something else. The programming is coming along.
Can you start putting creator or artist names in custom wearable descriptions?
Maybe that’s something we can do? The custom wearables system is also something that needs an overhaul, just some changes to make it more streamlined so that is something we could do.

IS the hustler in the Cash Shop going to get an update?
Yes, the hustler is getting changed with the new layout. We actually stopped updating him and he has been taken off the bar at the top so he’s not even part of the Cash Shop right now. He is getting updated, we’ll have something new for him once the new Cash Shop and the new layout comes out.
Who said they were leaving because their life was getting really busy?

So you can see what’s going to happen to the hustler, he’s going to be here with a lightning deal that will change every day that’ll be different than where he is now. It’ll be a lot easier to look at, obviously we aren’t selling Devontis. But yeah, all pages are getting an update.

Will there be new maps coming for Atebus when the masquerade starts?

Can you add more videos to the Cash Shop Offers page?
I commented on that on the forums a while ago, about that situation. We’re working on it, we’re trying to get more videos there but it’s hard.
Is pandemic getting a plot again this year?
I don’t want to call it a plot or a mini-event or any of the words that have been used before. Pandemic will be happening this year so that’ll happen.

So, with the pet pages, we are currently having some internal discussion on that. What is likely to happen that they are going to get a new design and they are going to be a separate page like profiles are. SO we can design them, we can throw them off to their own page and we will never have to update them again. If we do update them, we can do it like we did for user profiles for a while, where we did one option or the other. We are going to try our hardest to get pet pages to work both ways. Like, when we split them off to their own page we’re going to have it be an option to use the old CSS and layouts and stuff for as long as we can because I know that so many people have put so much e3ffort and work into their pet profiles it would be awful for them to get destroyed.
Are most of these updates going to happen when you update the servers tonight?
No! They are not, so that’s good. We still have a lot of work to do so they’re not going to go through today or tomorrow or next week.
When is the next reading drive?
The next reading drive is when the next reading drive happens. We don’t really schedule them except we put them in places where there’s not a lot of other stuff going on because we have to draw prizes for them and it makes it really easy to toss it in a place where there’s not anything else going on.
Favorite game of thrones house?
I’m really partial to the Starks.

We are always planning on world building. Every event or plot we have we try to add more depth to our characters. Like, this time we added more depth to melody, Vanya, and stuff like that and we sort of explained the fairies so we are always trying to do stuff like that sort of thing.
will you be taking a backup –
That part of the process will be making a backup so yes we will be making a backup of the site. We actually need to remove that feature because it makes people nervous that there’s ever a feature to back up their account. We’re just going to remove that because it’s unnecessary.

Wigs are not going to be their own layer in their own layer. We know you guys have a lot of wigs and a lot on the head layer but we have a certain-the amount of items that we can fit on that little avatar image is finite, we can’t keep adding layers so you can have 3-10 items per layer depending on how OLL you have and stuff like that. There’s definitely a limit to the number of items we can stack on that avatar, technically.
Will we ever see the card game from the mini plot Expo?
WE hope so, someday. All the programming is done, we want to make it a little more, **Ajax?** a little more interactive, but overall it is all done. The art for it is really intense and there is a lot of detail that goes into making sure the game is balanced. That’s the next biggest thing is making sure no card is overpowered. None of us are card game creators, none of us have worked for Wizards of the Coast.
No, there never will be option to adjust where items show up on the Human Avatars otherwise we’d have people wearing dogs on their head and wearing shirts as pants and stuff. While we try to give you as much freedom as possible, there is a point where we have to stop otherwise things get crazy.
It is possible that there will be a reading drive this year, but I don’t want to say yes or no. If I say yes, people are going to run off and buy 10 of millions of sp in books and then then yell at me when it doesn’t happen, so it may happen or it may not happen. It all depends on what have to fill gaps in the middle of the summer.
Avatars will update a lot faster, that’s part of the new site stuff. As we’re rewriting a lot of the code we’re able to rewrite the caching , stuff like that is easier for us to do instead of relying on cloudflare to cache it for us. With Cloudflare, we can’t tell them to remove a specific item from their cache reliably and so that’s sort of the problem, avatars are cached for an hour on cloudflare.
There will be a wardrobe rehaul.
What I was saying earlier about account backups is that they’re pretty much worthless. Tonight when we do our big database server moves, if that even happens; we’re having trouble with the server company we’re moving to, well, not them, but Rackspace. When we do anything with the database, we make a backup ourselves and move that to a secure server, so account backups are generally, we envision them to be if you get hacked, you can upload an account backup and we can look at it, verify it and more easily help you. But people just don’t get hacked on subeta, I guess people don’t care enough about Subeta accounts to hack them. I don’t know. As far as if the whole site crashed tomorrow and all of the data was gone, we would have a lot more trouble than just getting your account back. Like, your pets, well, your pets would be on the account backup, but like the site just wouldn’t be there so we have backups to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Meetups are generally going to take place between May and September; right now it’s snowing in a lot of America and we typically like having them outside where it’s easy to find and we don’t have to pay to rent a place. We’re mostly going to do them during the spring, summer and fall.
Is there- oh wait, where did my narwhal go?

Yes, it is 70 in Virginia, it’s also 70 in North Carolina as well, but that’s beside the point. I should actually have one in Virginia, I used to live there, but anyway. We plan on having more meetups this summer. There’s already ones planned in Canada and some in America since I’m going to be in America this year.
I’m actually going to be in Austin in March for SXSW, I’m giving a talk there, because people want to hear me talk.
Will you ever sell Subeta?
If I was offered like a billion dollars, it would be hard to say no. But otherwise… I really enjoy this, I enjoy this, talking with you guys, I enjoy the work and I’m enjoying the new layout stuff. I really enjoy this so I do not see myself selling Subeta and I get asked this every time. I’ve been getting this question for like 5 years. So hopefully that’s enough to tell you that I won’t sell Subeta.
You’ll give 14.27 for Subeta? Well, you drive a hard bargain but no, thank you.
I want to come to South America but it’s expensive to travel to have a meetup. People complain about the money we spend already, I can just imagine the sort of hate mail I would get if I said I was going to Rio de Janiero to have a meet up. Thanks for paying for my flight. All of the meetups so far have been us doing them personally. Like, I had one in North Carolina because my parents are there. One was in Disney because I was going to Disney. Etc. It’s all been us personally paying for them. If I was going to South America that would be sort of out of my way to just go there. I would like to say it would happen but I can’t say when.
Is there an age requirement to attend
Nope! We let anyone who shows up, shows up. We typically like kids 13-16-18 to have adult supervision but we are all adults who show up. We are there for the kids. You have to be over 13 to play subeta but if you bring your kids with you that’s fine as long as they don’t play Subeta illegally.
Do we have a rough eta on when the new layout will be here?
I’m not gonna, I see what you’re trying to do to me. But no, we do not have an eta. Things are coming along, we have things mostly done, we just have some JavaScript stuff to plug in for the events and the widgets and stuff like that. Things are coming along, I’ll continue updating GA users specifically, the whole site more as things progress.
I was sad to see I missed the Seattle meetup…
There will probably be another Seattle meetup.
Maybe? I live really close when I’m living in San Francisco so there will probably be more meetups there.
The Canada meetups will, there have been Canadian meetups so just keep an eye out there.
Meetups are when we all meet up in real life. It’ll be like, I’ll make a post in the announcement forums saying “Subeta meetup in Raleigh, NC!” and everyone shows up and you get a little achievement and everyone sits around for like 3 hours in the grass and chat about stuff.
The shoutbox will definitely be getting an update in the new layout.
Will the new layout be more colorful?
Not really. It’s actually going to be far less colorful, which is a good thing. The colors are going to be based off of the header image that you’re using. And typically going to be a lot nicer. right now we have a hodgepodge of colors that don’t match that we will fix.
I don’t know if we’re going to have meetup in St Louis. We generally don’t have any idea until we post a month or so in preparation or advance. St Louie? St Louis?
How’s the vlogging going?
Not as well as I wanted it to be going? I have a really big thing which takes up a lot of my time, which is you guys.
Will there be new header images?
For some layouts, yes, they’ll be getting an updated header image. New layouts will also have new header images but for the most part no, they’ll mostly play the same. Yes, the current hidden layouts will work in the new layout so if you have a hidden layout you will still be able to use it.
Ok, right now let’s just WOOP, BLOOPOPPOOOPOPP. (waves hands in front of screen) Stop asking with where we can have meetups. We will have meetups where we can. We have a big map which shows where everyone signs into Subeta from so we know where we have the most dense populations of users, but it happens where it happens.
Will there be an option to move our pets stats around?
That’s something to ask the battle admins so they can harass the programmers to do that for them. Like I said, right now the programmers are really busy with the new layout, so it might be a while since battlers just got a bunch of new stuff recently anyway.
The action posts will still be there, we will be monitoring how they work in the forum environment and if everyone is just really annoying with them we will remove them. It is a feature that was easy to program and will be easy to remove if it is a problem.

I don’t get it. I don’t understand it, people talk about it and I don’t know what it is. I looked at it and I didn’t get it. I’m getting old, is what I think it is.
The wardrobe is getting a complete update with the rest of the site so a lot of the things you are asking for, I saw a big board with wardrobe requests; a lot of those things are going o be incorporated like having a button to turn off custom wearables, those sort of things are being incorporated in the new layout for the wardrobe. That’s what I mean , don’t expect a lot of updates around the site; changing how things look or how they work, because a lot of that stuff will be incorporated in the new layout, probably.

When is the new layout starting?
I already answered that, there is no deadline on it. It’s not going to happen today or tomorrow or next week, it will be us posting it one day saying: OK guys, go here to new layout.Subeta.Net. Then the next month will be giving people the option to opt out of it and the next step will be everyone has to use it, goodbye old layout. But, there will be a lot of bugs to work out before that happens.
Because the new layout is kind of a big deal.
Am I still going to blow up the stock market?
Hnnggyyyesssnnnnprobably? I keep forgetting about that *writes it down* to just delete it, let me just put that in my notes. This how I work, subeta work… decimate the stock market.

I would suggest rewatching this video when it is done because I posted a few of them.
Are we going to see the councilors from the SS plot in the future?
Hopefully? In the future? We can incorporate them into future things, I hope?
Are gardens still getting an update?
Yes?? (eye twitch) Somewhere down the line, that was another: our technology vs what we wanted to accomplish. Isometric art isn’t’ really there for HTML5 and JavaScript at the moment which is what we aim to do because flash is old technology, it’s done. And so we want to do everything in HTML5 and JavaScript and unfortunately isometric art, art that looks like it is tilted, like Farmville and those sorts of things don’t have the capability to do that in JavaScript and HTML5 in a way that would be assessable for all of our users. We haven’t done it yet, but are working on it, it’s there.
I have not been to any part of Asia, sad!
I was going to go to South Korea, but then I ran out of money so now I’m at my parent’s house instead.
There aren’t any-if any staff positions open, we will post about them on the site. SO whenever those positions open they’ll be posted out and that’s all I can say about that. What do you do with the money put on Subeta? Does it go towards your vacations?
NO, the money goes to subeta, which is a corporation, so legally I’m not allowed to take the money out and go vacationing. I could go to jail for that, it’s shady business, so I have a salary, everyone who works on subeta has a salary. The money goes to paying all of our staff, all of our incredibly talented staff, our artists, our programmers, our user administrators, etc. Paying for our servers, there are a lot of them, paying for our bandwidth, paying for our bandwidth. Stuff like our domain names, it pays for stuff like that; we have a lot of bills. Ugh, being an adult.
Can we get side bar alerts pushed as desktop notifications?
You mean like when you’re off of subeta, well, not off subeta, but say you are on Gaia online and then you get a little event that says: this has happened on subeta!

There probably will not be a “train all” button because unlike with the resorts, training has different times and different sp amounts so it hard to make a ‘train all’ button for that.
Do I ship any character together?
I don’t really do the shipping thing because I don’t know… ummm… my ship is, I’ve been told, Ten and Rose, but really that’s it.
Do you ever get annoyed when people say Subeta is stealing people away from Neopets or not?
Not really because I know a lot of people who play Neopets and Subeta and Icepets and Marapets and all at the same time… Subeta isn’t a site that you can only play, it’s not like when you play subeta we say NO MORE SITEs and lockdown everything else. You can play Subeta and other things at the same time.
When are you coming to NC again?
I am in NC right now. I mean Raleigh at this moment, stalk me.
The cool thing about the new Subeta layout is that it is 100% working for mobile devices. If you have a mobile device, you’ll get a scaled down layout; it’s beautiful and works really well so yay!
Have you ever thought about donating to a charity monthly with proceeds from Subeta?
I mean while that sounds really nice and stuff, we don’t really make the amount of money necessary to turn around and donate it. We have bills to pay and then with any leftover money we try to expand. We just hired some new artists, next thing we want to do is hire new programmers. That’s what happens with money.
Will subeta continue to restrict to one per household?
Don’t restrict to one per household, we restrict to one per person. If your sister or mother or daughter or son or aunt or uncle or whatever signs up, just have them send in a ticket saying: Hey! I’m also playing on this IP, and then bam, you won’t get frozen.

Yes it has, because that’s the android I have.
Is subeta your fulltime job?
Yes, it is my fulltime job, chatting with you guys, that’s all I do. It’s my fulltime job, I do a lot of programming, lots of emails, stuff like that. Yep, fulltime job.
CWs are kind of crazy right now.
We don’t have any plans to restrict CWs right now because if they’re going through the system that means people are paying for them which mean people want them so we aren’t going to really do anything to change that, I guess. If things get really out of control then we’ll probably do something about that.

I missed the part on achievements, would you guys every unlock the retired achievements for younger users.
Probably not. A lot of them are from features that aren’t around anymore or events that aren’t around anymore and stuff like that.
