Reading at Atlas Review series on August 12th

In August, we’ll be in Brooklyn with the incomparable folks from The Atlas Review.

How did this happen and where is our ice cream. There is a furious girl tour blasting through America and we are catching it: Kristen Evans, Kelin Loe, and Anne Cecelia Holmes. Wouldn't you know it, I fell in love with the poetry of Camonghne while dealing with the storm. So she is here to offer up some perfect wind. This is not an ice cream social but you will feel in your guts the feels of someone who is slightly allergic to whatever it is that we're living. It's good to stir in our bodies. It's good to admit we're working hard at staying alive, even if it doesn't feel that way. But if that doesn't work, there's a Carvel up the road. The best poetry collection I've read recently

Recently, I’ve been reading a few things put out by Factory Hollow Press, including These Are The Gloria Stories by poet Kelin Loe.  The book itself is beautifully made and striking in its sparse arrangement.  The voice of the poems is fantastically confident (“Biochemically, I am more alive/ than you”) and at times even aggressive (“These cups      cover you ears.      If you      aren’t here      then leave.” and …"You will      between       changed and      not/ the same; you      will taste      the wheel/ with your throat.”).  The language is playful throughout  the poems (“HERE    I     AM       , HONEY POT  !  !  !/i keep opening the internet like there is food in there   .”) and always surprising.  If you’re looking for something interesting and distinct, Loe’s book is not to be missed!

Dreadful Contact, is part of Pinwheel 6. This issue of Pinwheel is full of writers with new work (Natalie Eilbert, Kelin Loe, Sampson Starkweather, Mark Cugini, Amy King) I hope we all take the time to read / discuss / because it's really lovely and important in here.
