Manifesto #3 Revised Version

To make the manifesto more shocking, I made the text smaller, to represent the “impact” of the black area against the white area. Then I aligned the letters and centered them. The typeface I used had the letter “c” round, so I made it square so it looked just like the rest of the letters.

Manifesto #3

The statement for this manifesto is “Impact” because as designers, we need to consider the impact we could have in other people's lives by the message we transmit with our designs. We can also be affected by other people’s designs, sometimes to inspire us, and other times to make us reflect on a specific topic. The constrain recipe I used was “reversed type” to emphasize the word, for this, I tried using different typefaces to see which one worked the best. I ended up deciding on a sans-serif, bold typeface.

Manifesto #2 Revised Version

I made the phone bigger and decided to make the grey square smaller, so the phone would look like it’s coming out of the square. For the text, I kept the same font and color, but I made it a little bit bigger and aligned it with the square on the background. I also wanted to make the text look like it was coming out of the screen, so I added a clipping mask and I also kept the reflection, but I only left the letter “o” to increase the 3D sense on the rest of the text. Instead of the “obsession with data” I tried a different approach for the concept, now it’s more about the obsession with our phones, social media, and fitting in society according to what the brands say we should feel and look like.

Manifesto Statement #2

My statement this time was “Data obsession”, so I tried with different ideas and the one that worked better was this one. The phone represents the data, as well as something we’re already “addicted” to these days. I put the word in a dark red to give it a negative feeling and to emphasize it more. The constraint recipe I used was “type + image”, using an image from Lars Kaizer in Unsplash.

Manifesto #1 Revised version

Some of the changes I made in my manifesto were making the word “community” the focus point in both versions. In the first one I made the word larger and some bricks bigger, I also changed the typeface of the other 2 words and lowered it a little bit. In the second design I only left the word “community” and then I divided the word in 3 lines. In this one I also wanted to add the bricks, so I chose the letter in the middle that in this case was the letter “u”. I made the bricks and the people bigger as well. 

I couldn’t decide between both designs, so I left both of them.

Revised Manifesto

New Constraint Recipe: Type + Image

I made many changes to my original design, and now my design is much stronger. The main issues with the original design were the text being difficult to read and my focal point having less hierarchy than I would have liked. After making the recommended changes, my design is far more impactful, and I am happy with the result!
