few, even among the demons, were as old as malphas. she’d survived eons and fought her way to the top, the very top reachable without stepping into lucifer’s shadow to touch the throne and thus, as she’d witnessed, usually one’s demise. she was content with being the great prince. obviously king malphas had a certain appeal to it but the demon was aware of the responsibilities that came with being the king of hell. she’d rather not.
that wasn’t to say her pride hadn’t gotten the better of her at times, making her imagine such a world where she was king. and none knew better about such desires as the grand bitch herself, pride, the deadly sin. one of malphas’ oldest friends and surely one of the most like herself. she hadn’t expected to meet pride in starlight valley but she was very positively surprised to feel the familiar tingle of the sin’s presence.
malphas had been walking down the street when her green eyes suddenly landed on the back of a blonde woman. whether or not pride had noticed her nearing presence yet, malphas couldn’t say. she marched closer, stopped just behind the demon. ❝ pride, what a surprise. ❞ she said with a one-sided smile, loud enough for the blonde to hear but not loud enough for the people passing them to take notice.
