hi daybreak tumblr
it’s me again :)
Arlo nestled deeper into the haze of sleep, the soft sound of wind in leaves soothing him further. Unfortunately, that very same wind carried with it a biting chill. The man grumbled incoherently and shifted, hoping to curl himself into a tighter ball and absorb more of his own warmth.
It didn’t work, and with an irritated sigh, he found himself slipping back into the land of the waking. The blankets the mist provided were so-so; Arlo found himself waking up cold a lot. He never could manage to do what Kelvin did and just sleep in his clothes… speaking of his boyfriend, he was nowhere to be found.
The ravenette sat up, squinting to take in as much as he could of the moonlit room. The door cracked up, gifting him a view of Kelvin’s bedhead and sheepish grin. “I woke you up, huh?” He whispered, crossing the floor and setting a fresh glass of water on the nightstand. “Lay back down, lovely…”
Sighing contentedly, Arlo complied and rested back against the mattress. Kelvin waited til he’d settled himself before slipping in as well, adjusting the blankets just so and opening his arms. The nurse took the invitation without hesitating; he had always taken great pleasure in snuggling up against his lover like this.
“…Were you cold?”
“Mmmm-hm.”
“Yeah, my side’s cold. Scoot closer, angel, I got you.”
With Arlo’s head slotted underneath Kelvin’s chin, he sighed again and nuzzled even closer. This greatly made up for earlier’s chill.
“G’night, Arlo.”
“….’Night.”

Kelvin was clingy.
Always. It was as if he simply couldn’t get enough of Arlo- like he was going to disappear if the tracker didn’t always have one arm around him. His daily affection, however, was no match for how much of an absolute cuddlebug he was come sunrise.
Years of shitty college sleep schedules had trained the nurse to be able to function at strange hours of both night and morning, but Kelvin clearly hadn’t had the same experience. A large hand pressed against the shorter’s stomach and tugged him back, a low rumble emitting from the blonde’s chest. “Is too early, angelllll…” He groaned, morning voice making him sound like how a muscular bear looked.
“Kelvin-“
“Nuh-uh.” Came the reply before he could even get his plea out. Normally, Arlo would spend upward of 10 minutes wiggling and begging his way out of bed, but the effort just really didn’t feel worth it right about now. Neither of them had been summoned for an early trial. What damage could staying in possibly do? Besides showing Kelvin he could win these scuffles, of course.
“…Fine.” He sighed, adjusting until his back was flush against Kelvin’s chest. “You win today.” The answering cheer came out in the form of an aggressive yawn and a kiss pressed to the top of his head. The blonde settled himself around him, taking up nearly every inch of Arlo that he could. They even breathed in an easy sync, stomachs rising and falling together. Calloused hands brushed down the nurse’s torso in a mindless loop, mapping him out like a devoted astronomer.
Arlo was his constellation, and Kelvin could spend a lifetime studying him.
“Angel?”
“Kel?”
“I love youuuuuuu….”
Arlo replied wordlessly, lifting one of Kelvin’s hands and kissing the back of it.
