Hey I love your blog and am super grateful for all the work you’ve done for the community by spreading info! I was wondering what got to started in kemetic polytheism? What was your first exposure to it? Have a wonderful day!
Aww thank you so much, it really means a lot! <3
I don’t remember how I got into loving Ancient Egypt because it was super long ago and I was really young, but I do remember when I was about eight(?), I nagged my parents for this magazine subscription, called The Glory of Ancient Egypt. I got a magazine every other week and a little statue and I thought it was the best thing ever. I still have most of the statues from that set and my main Hathor idol actually comes from that collection. But the idea of worshipping the Egyptian gods themselves didn’t come till a bit later.
So fast forward like four years, I was 12 and I had this vision of woman in a red dress with silver hair, and she held her hand out to me and told me to take her hand. But, I like waiting a second too long and she was gone. I was super oblivious about who that could have been... until I stumbled across this image;
So I now know that I want to worship Aset, but have no idea how. I’d seen Scooby Doo and the Witches Ghost, so I had heard the term Wicca, but badly understood what Wicca was, and started researching that. I was a truly, awful neo-wiccan for a few years - but I was so bad at it, seriously, I am very surprised I didn’t burn the house down!
Then one day, searching through youtube, I stumbled across KemeticIndependent and Pagyptian (who I know know!!) and suddenly the idea of being a Kemetic hit me in the face like a wet fish >.< So I started searching, found tumblr like ten years ago and started annoying everyone here [although this blog is only from 2015/2016(??)].
And it all sort of spiralled, I studied Egyptology at uni and have literally annoyed everyone I’ve ever met with random Egypt facts, seriously my party trick is speaking dumb sentences in Middle Egyptian because I’m a total nerd!
I think I went off on a couple tangents there, but yer, that’s the super short version of how I got started :D
