Milwaukee, WI— The Admirals announced today that the team has signed center Hunter Garlent, defenseman Arvin Atwal, and goaltender Ken Appleby to AHL contracts for the 2019-20 season.
Garlent recently completed his collegiate career at St. Mary’s University where he led the team in scoring with 45 points on 12 goals and 33 assists. The Thorold, ON native led St. Mary’s in scoring all three of his seasons, accumulating 40 goals and 91 assists for 131 points in just 90 games played. He also played five seasons in the OHL, splitting time between the Guelph Storm and the Peterborough Petes.
Atwall split last season between the Rochester Americans (AHL) and the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL). With the Amerks he tallied a pair of assists and five penalty minutes in three games, while finishing second among Cyclones defensemen in scoring with 39 points (10g-29a) in 65 contests. The Surrey, BC native tallied two goals and an assist in 14 games with Rochester during the 2017-19 season, while also adding 11 points (3g-8a) in 27 games with Cincy that same season. Atwall played four seasons with the Vancouver Giants (WHL) before finishing his junior career with Lethbridge in 2015-16.
Appleby recently completed his fourth pro season, splitting the 2018-19 campaign between the Manitoba Moose (AHL) and the Jacksonville Icemen (ECHL). With he Moose he posted a 2-6 record with a .884 save % and a 3.92 goals against average. In Jacksonville he was 7-7-1 with a 2.45 GAA and a .923 save % in 15 contests. The North Bay, ON native has three games on NHL experience with the New Jersey Devils, stopping 49 of the 52 shots he faced in the course of three games in 2017-18. In 76 AHL contests with the Moose, Binghamton Devils, and Albany Devils he has accumulated a 32-36-5 mark with a 2.82 GAA, a .900 save % and four shutouts.
