Shove with love
Phantom has a saying, “Shove with love.” Meaning, if you’re standing in the wrong place, someone will tell you the right place. During “Masquerade,” Marilyn Caskey, a terrific Carlotta by the way, asked someone where she was supposed to stand. She got no answer. The actor wouldn’t even deign to acknowledge her presence. She asked again. No response. It was only then that she realized she was talking to one of the onstage mannequins.
