My friend is starting a Rifts tabletop game (keep in mind I know nothing about the Rifts universe), and I was asking what the playable races are, AND I FOUND THE PERFECT ONE FOR ME! Okay, so here’s my character (so far):
Name: Kennandi (stems from Norse word “kenna” - to perceive) Race: Emirin (giant psionic cat, similar to mountain lion) Height: To shoulder, 7ft Length: Nose to Butt, 12 ft Weight: 450 lbs Alignment: Unprincipled As Emirin cannot speak (house rule says she can purr), she communicates through telepathy to those she sees worth speaking to. She is highly curious, as her race tends to be, and will sit and watch others for hours. She has most fun watching them up close, though she’s aware her size could scare others. She’s able to make others not consciously notice her, as well as alter her aura to that of something less threatening (though both are temporary). She uses these abilities simultaneously.
She also enjoys seeing what she can get people to do. She has the ability to send people mental suggestions, so they end up doing (or thinking/feeling) what she wants them to.
Let me just... paint you a little scenario. I got a sneak peek at the opening scene for our game.
A small tavern, maybe 4 tables that seat 12 people, and the bar, which could sit another 12. Barrels in one corner and a seemingly empty spot in the other corner. Characters pile in, one after the other. Meeting there for a job, or something (not sure what that scenario is yet). One of the background npcs get up and ask for a bowl of ale. The bartender is confused, but takes the coin and fills the request. The background npc then puts the bowl on the floor, a ways away from the corner, before going back to his seat. The people around him are asking him wtf his problem is, but he just shrugs it off. They soon forget about the bowl, and go on with their normal chatter.
Meanwhile, Kennandi is lying in the seemingly empty corner, enjoying the quiet chatter and general atmosphere of the place. She’s curious to try a drink, and plants the suggestion in a random person’s head to get her a bowl. He’s easy enough to manipulate - there was little hesitation before he stood to go get it. She snuffed a bit when he laid it in front of her - he’d spilled some on her paw. No matter. She licked the liquid off, and enjoyed lapping from the tiny bowl.
She would eventually see the party, and they would want to know what’s with the empty corner. They would come investigate, but find nothing. She would find great amusement in this, and would patiently wait to see how long it would take them to discover her.
