heres a cropped pic of ten year old jake with one year old baby adel !!! they were good siblings ! adel learns how to write and she starts sending him letters while hes at hogwarts. the letters are usually just random kid stuff like “i eat ice creem. don tell bunda.” ( bunda is what they call their mother !! its indonesian for mom ) and when jakes home for the summer, he would tell adel EVERYTHING he learned at hogwarts and adel wont stop firing questions at him. he also let adel ride double with him on his broom and she fell as a result. she cried but once shes calmed down shes latching onto jake to ride with her again.
this is fifteen year old jake ( a few years into the first wizarding war ) coming home to find his house in ruins and his family missing. dont worry he finds the terrified four year old adel later and holds her close as he grieved for his parents. it was only the two of them since then.
this is > 17 year old jake. hes lost a lot of things in his life so far ( his parents, his home, his friends, his sense of normalcy, his freedom, etc. ) his sister was all he has left. when r threatened to make everyone he loved disappeared, that meant adel. bc adel was the only person he loved at that point.
/ note he used “he” to refer to adel bc this is way before adel even realised shes trans
hes definitely not wise in making decisions, hence why i put him in gryffindor instead of ravenclaw like adel. e.g. going to look for the vaults in the first place, leaving and shutting adel out for the second time after years, and all else youve seen in canon. he may be stupid, but he really loves his sister and is trying his best to fix their bond.
