Kenichi stares at the objects. “Fuck you, Usa. Don’t give me this.” Yusuke doesn’t lift his arms to take them back. “Drink the stupid juice.” “You’re a stupid juice. Goddamnit.” The paper cup crinkles against Ken’s head and leaks into his fur when he curls in on himself again. The muffin crumbles in his grip. “Leave me alone.” “What happened?” Yusuke asks again. He is met with silence, so sits himself down more comfortably on the cobblestones. He has to do something with his worry, and reaching out to check if the base of Ken’s ears have been injured seems benign enough. They are not swollen, nor too warm to the touch. When he asks if they hurt, Ken does nothing but sniff wetly from under the shelter of his arms. He has time to make assumptions, and so Yusuke guesses, “Something went wrong with the Kobayashi.”
