Caine and Kinger are from different worlds, no matter how much time they spend in each others.
They are two artists that benefit from exploiting each others work… who still just want to make this dynamic work so bad. They love each other in a way you can only love a concept, a painting, a thing you want to stare at forever and wonder what the person who made it was thinking
But they’ll never have sex. (Mess with each others minds without intense communication and understanding on both of their sides, Caine begged Kinger to not change who he is because C&A told him to. He tells him I will change, I can do it, I’ll do it myself just please don’t change the code.)
Ok and the way Caine and Kinger handle the abstractions, its…they worked here for so long, this place was their BABY, their EVERYTHING and now it’s just a reminder of everything that forced them apart. The abstractions, the… people that didn't want to be here. The art they put everything into is now being used as a torture device essentially 😭😭😭 and worst part is THEY have to deal with the consequences like UUGGGHHHH. They both have different viewpoints on it, Caine takes it more personally NATURALLY but theres still that shared “what it could have been” feeling, the soul crushing disappointment over this project being what it is now, yk.
The ending isn't supposed to be a total downer though, whoever that abstraction was is up to interpretation, but it’s probably Queenie.

-BUT POINT IS it’s not like they feel any differently about each other, it’s just. Unfortunate. that their situation is the way it is right now. the ending is BABY THEY’RE TIIIIIRED
After that talk, Kinger is working on the circus cause he’s like on the clock all the time whenever they’re together, but Caines just drawing and. existing with someone he cares about. and it makes him cry. and both of their reactions are because they literally did not program him to do that 😭😭 lookit himmm naturally growing and learning, my favorite Electronic Organism. He kissed him just to kiss him, not to make him cry. He hung out with him just to hang out, not to test if he could make him cry
As commonplace in the show and fandom, red symbolises real life and blue symbolises the circus. Eventually when they come to understand that they will never understand each other, THEY BECOME PURPLE AND PINK. CAINE HAS A HOT PINK SUIT IN THE SHOW, ITS NOT RED, IT’S PINK. COLOR PICK FROM THAT PNG, ITS PINK, HE’S im normal about them being so close to swapping red and blue but not QUITE there because they still dont. get it. (And the yellow at the end is just cause Caine is like his OWN THING he doesnt even have to be the circus, thats only the role other people gave him.)
The boiling to show whats “alive” because yk thats just a usual technique in art/animation. Contrast with Caine boiling but the computer is not. But then in the wide shot with the circus, it IS boiling because its. because it’s alive.
*sniff*
Last thoughts, barely any of this actually fits with my headcanons and how everything went down, like in my idea of their relationship- they would NOT have this good of communication. It’d only become clear they have a problem AFTER everyone gets stuck, like Caine would never advocate for his needs that way…BUT ITS FOR THE SAKE. OF THE AMV. AND THE FLUFF. THAT THIS IS A “WHAT IF” SCENARIO AND IM HAVING FUN, IM HAVING SO MUCH FUN *SNIFFNSNFIF*
