Kochukadavu, the southernmost village of Thrissur, Kerala,India also shares the borders of Ernakulam district. When Kochukadavu and neighbouring places were under water people sought refuge at the school of Eravathoor and the auditorium of Raktheswari temple. Since the water did not descend even on Bakrid day, the devotees of Kochukadavu could not utilize their mosque for Eid prayers...
Kuzhur : The Muslim devotees of Kochukadavu, Southernmost part of Thrissur, Kerala,India offered their Eid prayers at the auditorium of Raktheswari temple on Bakrid day.
Since the water did not descend they were not able to offer their prayers at masjid and were compelled to use the auditorium of temple for their Eid prayers. Purappillikkavu temple and Sreekrishnavilasam L P school run as a relief camp now. Kochukadavu area which was famous for its agricultural lands were completely ruined during this flood.
River Chalakudy ends its trail at Kochukadavu, joins with Periyar and then flows to the backwaters of Kodungallur (old Muziris ) area. The area include Kochukadavu and Kuzhur did not receive the flood alert also added to the disastrous situation. The roaring water literally engulfed the villages at midnight. The peole who lost their valuables including their cattle could not even protect their primary documents also.
The area which affected severely with scourge of water bodies like River Chalakudy, Periyar and sea tide now experiences severe famine also...
