hi guys im still alive and sort of drawing sometimes. ocs
was wondering if kerlu’s name had any meaning behind it or how you picked it out + does she name herself in the story? (also just read kerlu lore doc, fun stuff!)

her name is assigned (by who im not sure, i think i wrote somewhere the implication that she was named by a scientist but idk how feasible that actually is - it was prob the ship computer naming her from an algorithm) to her based on the changes made to her phenotype. it's short for keratin luminescence because that's the simplest, broadest strokes of the experiment she was supposed to be (her hair/body hair/eyelashes/eyebrows/nails can all luminesce under the right kind of stress). it was quite important to me that she be named by a force outside of herself and be named for something that makes her 'abnormal' :]
