Dining on a private island feels magical enough, but when your dinner guests include endangered Key deer, it becomes unforgettable. At Little Palm Island, we savored butter-poached lobster and grilled fish tacos as the ocean whispered around us. Suddenly, a curious Key deer wandered past the tiki-lit tables, making our evening surreal.
These pint-sized deer, found only in the Florida Keys, weigh just 50–100 pounds and are most active at dusk—perfect timing for dinner. Classified as endangered, they remind us to treasure every wildlife encounter.
