naaji still has the wind chimes nori gave them at their metamorphosis :] (you'll never guess where i got that idea from /silly)

they Might've exchanged gifts at their whole soulbound ceremony thing out of tradition or smth, but that's the first Real gift given between them

👀 Who gets jealous more easily & how obvious are they about it?

yk i think joel is slightly more aggressive overall BUT when it comes to relationship protectiveness lizzie takes the cake (empires joke intended)

like if someone tried to flirt with joel he'd be like "uhh ok...? i'm married. weirdo" but lizzie would be in the background absolutely SEETHING and LIVID just Glaring Daggers at whoever would DARE talk to her husband like that. would she Say anything? no. and if she did it'd be in a super sweet overly polite voice. but it would be incredibly clear from the Look in her eyes what she's thinking. so no one dares touch her joel <3

3 - What were their first impressions of each other? How does that compare to their impressions of each other now?

HATE HATE SEETHING HATE... they were both 10 y/os wearing fancy clothes they despised and neither of them wanted to be at that stupid ceremony. but nori realized pretty quickly this was an Opportunity to make a friend and changed around almost immediately. naaji took some time to warm up but they got there in the end. he did think nori was pretty weird though (and still does /aff)

7 - How often do they see each other? Where do they usually meet?

as often as they can get away with it tbh. more frequently as time goes on for sure. they "see" each other at semi-regular alliance meetings but that doesn't really count. and they SHOULD meet at their secret clubhouse i made up for them but it's never even mentioned anywhere </3 gotta fix that smh

11 - Does one act as a narrative foil to the other? How so?

ohh i'm SURE it's in there somewhere i just don't know what it IS... there's something about them. two sides of the same coin i just can't place what that coin is,,,

14 - Do they share the same goals in life?

sssort of? they have an unspoken agreement that they wanna stick together for as long as they possibly can, however that will look in the future. nori wants to be a great and beloved emperor one day like his father was, but naaji... not so much. they COULD be monarch, but that would mean being like his mother, and they don't really wanna deal with all that. and it's hard to think about the future when most days in his palace Suck. mostly they just wanna survive :(

He’d made himself azalea tea with extra honey, gone to bed early, worn his favorite sleeping clothes, everything he could think of— and even then, he could never seem to get comfortable.
