I read a short rotten tomatoes review for series 11 and it noted that the Doctor is more of a detective than a hero in this. And I'm thinking....that is possibly exactly right. Her default role is that of a detective, which also jives with the Scooby-Doo-like team dynamics that crop up sometimes - the way the team plans and divides itself up for tasks.

Hmmm....
