Fun little headcanons that I have for Tell Me verse that will never make it into the work:
-Ducks in Radiant Garden (the non-sentient ones) are usually white but they change color if you cast a spell at them. Otherwise, they are not affected by magic.
-RG swans on the other hand...if you cast, say, a Fira at one, prepare for your target to shoot that Fira back at you...through its beak. And then try to break your arms with its wings.
Since I’m on the subject of Xion’s face and how it appears to other people...I think it’s really acting as a defense mechanism.
That Xion takes on the face of a individual that a viewer is least likely to hurt/attack, providing her some time to respond in that period of shock. Such would only work if the viewer has memories for Xion to work with, of course. Since Roxas didn’t get hit with that, but that was fine because he didn’t want to hurt Xion anyway.
It’s just a defense mechanism that isn’t very useful surrounded by people who lack emotions and are very very selfish, constantly backstabbing each other.
Here, have MOOP-verse ficlet bit. Outside the main fic, I’m still playing in that sandbox!
“Hm, curious.” Zexion leans back in his chair. “Says here the plan was to alter your second limit break...I wonder what the exact reasoning behind that was?”
Xion blinks, moving over to squint at the words on the screen. Not that it helps, too much science that she doesn’t get. Not yet. “Second limit break?”
Zexion pats at his hair, careful to keep it over his non-eye. “Ah, right, you do not know very much about it. It’s...an embarrassment, really, among Greater Nobodies. A reminder of how monstrous we really are.”
“Is everyone’s different then? Like the Lesser Nobodies?” Xion asks. Her thoughts lead her to that time Roxas almost grew wings after a really bad fight and Axel told them both not to tell anyone, after tossing a potion on. Which made them go away, like limit break power. Maybe it’s related?
Zexion taps at the keyboard. “Yes. Most of us just look more...like Lesser Nobodies. Not exactly, but similar. There are few, though, that go differently. Like Saix, for example.”
Xion jerks back. “Isa’s different?”
“Certainly,” he agrees. “I believe it was...Xemnas, Saix, and Xigbar, that had more unique limit transformations. Marluxia comes close and I’m not entirely certain about Demyx.” Zexion brings up several blurry images on screen. “But the, Demyx doesn’t fight hard enough to get to that point, of course. And no one ever saw Xigbar’s, so I’m making assumptions there.”
“Why group Xigbar with Xemnas and Saix then?” Xion asks, frowning slightly. She’s not a scientist, but that sounds a little against how you’re supposed to theorize about that kind of stuff to her.
Zexion spins his chair around. “Well, why else would Xigbar never let anyone see? Xemnas threatened to slaughter us all should we ever mention it and Saix has made similar threats.”
His lips thin. “It was always an...embarrassment, even more so than the existence of the second limit break for all of us.”
I just finished MOOP, and it was WONDERFUL! My main thoughts on the story itself are left as comments there. But you know me; I gotta ask. What became of the Nobodies who died over the course of the story? Lexaeus, Marluxia, Vexen? Given that canon recompletes them, would the same thing happen eventually? Or do they stay gone for quite a while?
Ah, recompletion, the bane of my KH worldbuilding existence. *mutters about how the logic of it makes sense by KH internal rules but how it happening clearly only occurs as the story demands it and we don't know how it happens and so forth*
Considering that in canon all of the RG Nobodies get recompleted at the same time despite dying at different times (a year after KH2, DDD-time), I'm going to the obvious reason why that would all happen at the same time. Which is the fake Kingdom Hearts in the World That Never Was.
Having it break freed all of the Hearts in it to go back to wherever and clearly the Organization's Hearts were in there to go back to their original bodies as well. At the same time.
Isa's come to this same conclusion, which is why he's concerned with getting Mickey (or some other Keyblade wielders) to break down the fake Kingdom Hearts to free the Hearts in it. Preferably he would like a way to check the Hearts to make sure they belong to Organization members, to make sure he's not barking up the wrong tree.
But it's likely he wouldn't be able to do that so just breaking the fake KH should be enough.
Some time after that (yet to be determined by myself), the recompletion should occur and everyone will be fine. Then that really gets the war started up, so gotta be careful, you know?
Not exactly related, but I'm almost certain that Xehanort recompletes whether the false KH shatters or not, or the planning of the evil plot that happens in DDD doesn't quite make sense. So that gives Isa a time limit to figure this out by.
I have a question that you might've addressed in a fic already, so I apologize if the answer is spelled out and I forgot. But after Xigbar messed with the Save Point in the latest Tell Me, I realized I wanted to know. In your 'verse, what differentiates a "normal" Save Point from the temporary ones in KH1 that are two circling beams of light? Do they offer different things? (Also, read your manifesto and I'm really glad Ruse is aroace!)
Nah, I haven’t talked about it at all!
Mechanically, there is no different. The ‘temp’ Save Points do everything a normal one does, heals, gathers data, and so forth.
“Normal” Save Points look more solid because they’re used more often for traveling between worlds, usually by Moogles. They stay where are located through all kinds of things, never disappearing. The temporary ones are less traveled and also less set in stone, more likely to disappear if the Ways In Between shift or something.
A few extra facts that might or might not come up about Save Points in Tell Me:
-They came into existence after KHux era.
-Invi created the base system. Someone else patched in the X access later on, once the Save Point System started running post-Keyblade War.
-Save Points are created to gather data in order to restore Worlds to their previous state should they be lost to Darkness. All the Worlds that come back after KH1? Thanks to the Save Point System doing what it’s supposed to.
(Aw, glad you liked! It took me time to figure it out for her! :D)
Wondering if I could ask a question that's kinda for advice for my own fic? I'd like to write a game of Struggle soon, and I'm trying to figure a cool way to justify "you hit someone and a ton of bouncy balls come out." Might I ask how you'd do it with your worldbuilding (like if you had Ruse play Struggle) and then could I take that idea (with credit to you) or would you rather I just took the broad strokes?
You do whatever you want with it, I'm fine if you want to use any of my worldbuilding. I'll just toss stuff out there about Struggle. :D
If we're going for a more realistic game, one that can be played off of the video game screen, my thoughts go to that dumb water balloon game I played as a kid.
Namely, the one where you run around chasing other kids with water balloons tied to their ankles and try to pop them, while preventing your own getting popped.
Maybe some kind of packet or pouch each player/fighter wears, one that might pop after a few good whacks to release the orbs? You might need multiple pouches for that, to fill up after a few have been torn. If you lose all your pouches to carry orbs might serve as another lose condition, like gaining all the orbs is an win one.
The orbs need to be a decent size too, and vey bouncy, to make it more entertaining for onlookers and easy for players to pick up. Tennis ball sized about seems viable, but nothing too big or too small.
Not much has to be done about the time limit, since we've got plenty of real life sports that run off of a timer. Leave that be.
Different players might become more notorious for different strategies, like people that spend all of their time dodging verses heavy hitters verses a mixture of the two (or anything else). There might even be slang that evolves for different strategies too, or various plays.
Struggle might even be even more fun as a team game with these add-ons, honestly. Hope that helps!
