The Apple Tree II Feat. The Glitch Mob

Shortly after Apple Tree was finished, it appeared on Glitch Mob's website as well as their Facebook page. Genius media strategist, Jenka over at http://www.social-creature.com saw the tron clips in the Apple Tree. Then like lightning in a bottle, she comes up with this idea for a Tron-Only Spot with Glitch Mob's track "Animus Vox" They got back to me on it. I too think this is an awesome idea. I think Jenka was inspired partly because of another editor who remixed the Iron Man 2 Trailers some time back. His name is Mike Relm. http://www.youtube.com/user/mikerelm He got it tweeted to the right people and BAM it was an official TV spot!! So with Tron around the corner soon, why not the spark a fire to cook a new meal? So after a while of tryin to figure out how to overcome all these obstacles like Isolating dialog, limited sources, non-typical trailer track, plus never making a trailer before, it was put on the backburner. Then one day, I bought a 4pk or Rockstars, sat down and convinced myself thats this could be done. A few drafts later, I had a really solid 30sec and 1min spot. Both Glitch Mob and Jenka agreed these were awesome. But we all felt that a little more of the song should be used as well as some more of my style of editing. New footage came out a few days later and I was meeting Glitch Mob on Halloween night. I was rendering like crazy, trying to iron out any flaws I could with the time i had left. The sound fx on the second half didnt get normalized as much as Id like and the quick fade in and outs at the beginning could have used some spacing too. But all in all I think it turned out nice. I love editing. As said in the Wired.com Interview; "Its in my blood" :P My only wish is to do this professionally. I am just blown away at the attention its got. I could not thank the people at Disney enough for putting it on their FB page. As well as Olivia Wilde for giving the video to Sean Bailey. Glitch Mob deserves the most thanks for being such a cool group to work with a single fan to create something awesome. Oh and for not suing me for using their music HAHAHA jk jk :P Thank you everyone for watching this and you have no idea how much it means to me that you enjoy it enough to leave a comment or to even click the replay button. Lets hope Tron3 gets a score from the Glitch Mob!!! But about the video itself: This is my first Trailer/Feature and I had alot of fun making it. I started working on this shorty after The Apple Tree was released. The title and intro are indeed a tipping hat to Daft Punk's Video "Derezzed". They came out with their video right around the time I was finishing mine up, and I still hadnt thought of a title. So I thought it would be fun to keep the name scheme similar as well as the feel of the setup. No harm meant, got nothing but love for Daft Punk and hope this video becomes a nice companion video to theirs. This was completely created from public available trailers and resources.

As you recall, 4 years ago when The Apple Tree was complete, I promised a 5th Segment in the end credits. I am glad to say that it finally did get completed. To the music of The Glitch Mob of course. Enjoy!

Track Selection was directly inspired by the band The Glitch Mob. It is not intended to tell a story. I didnt edit it that way. I wanted to relate sound to motion. So each and every cut you see was picked for a reason.
