Partial redraw of my old Khamil piece because he deserved a slightly more up-to-date version of my art skills.

[For the uninitiated, he's a Númenorean teenager who is killed in the Temple, but also wins a prolonged battle of wills against Sauron and buys half a dozen people (relative) safety. And heroes who die young, and sacrificial actions deserve some nicely symbolic kintsugi in my mind.]

I was debating putting it up here or on main, but it's one of my Númenórean OCs so... I suppose it deserves an explanation.

*takes a deep breath*

It's all a little bit mortifying to elaborate upon — this has been on my mind for several months, and is the culmination of a chain of association involving some things that are very close to my heart, and maybe the space within that they inhabit is a little... fragile. But yes, heroes who die young, and sacrificial actions go together with kintsugi and light. To me. Ergo, Khamil.

*laughs* I am far too attached to him.

thinking I might have to dock Khamil's age a year or two, and like, yes, he's already really young for... pretty much everything, but — I have a pretty good idea of his thought processes... and they're a child's. I don't think I thought at all like that at fourteen — which is not to say my ideas were anything ressembling mature at that age, but they had that very typical self-conscious pseudo-philosophism to them? Khamil's are honestly too sincere for that.

...I'm wondering how much a rather isolated childhood with next to no contact to peers could account for that, but I don't know if it would, fully. I'd not be the first writer to misjudge what a child is like at what age, but then I'd prefer to avoid that all the same.
