She is highly trained in fighting
not just, lived in a military place and can wield a sword (like Sasha). No, she has full training, and a sword she knows. A very important sword actually, the Light of Nedarra.
It's enchanted, so it looks like a rusty old sword. nothing of note. but when drawn in anger, BOY DOES IT GLOW.
Anyways KHARA IS SUCH A COOL CHARACTER
SHE HAS A SWORD
AND A HORSE
alsoalso im gonna like
spoil the ending ending so uh
CUT BE UPON YE
SO IN THE FINAL BOOK
Some shit happens you know how it goes
Khara's leading an army, the "Army of Peace" (using force to make peace when words aren't enough)
They've got this whole plan; get the nanites (ocean guys) to stop any naval attacks in the big coming war, and bring back the original team to go stand between the armies and stop it.
On the wayyy, Khara happens to get shot with a barbed arrow. oopsie!
So everyone's like freaking out, because KHARA IS DYING HELLO. but she lives due to Renzo (did I mention him? I didn't. he's a thief and also good natured and also he and Khara are in love) and his low skilled healing magic.
They run as fast as possible to the site the war would begin, and Khara does THE COOLEST THING EVER.
imma just paraphrase bc I love that scene
So Khara, wound still fresh, rides her horse between the two armies.
She calls out to the fighters, pointing out how they're about to die for leaders that have done what for them? Starved them? Taken their resources? They can stay and fight for those monsters, or they can stop.
But that's not it. This girl, less than 15 years of age, struck through the midsection with an arrow less than a week before, invokes an ancient right of wars. Instead of fighting with thousands, each leader may fight for themself, or send in a champion to fight for them in a duel.
Khara fights them 2v1.
She manages to defeat the Kazar, a felivet (pretty much panther) and is left 1v1-ing Chimera. Who is, as stated, a Chimera. Arms much too long, legs much too short, much much more, but most prominently the head of a cobra.
Chimera throws it's spear and hits her in the midsection. Exactly where the arrow hit.
She falls
In a last ditch effort, she uses all her strength to hold her sword up. And Chimera, upon kneeling down to gloat, impales itself on her blade, the Light of Nedarra.
But the Murando is not satisfied, he draws his own sword and breaks the conduct, entering a battle that was not his own. Byx jumps into the fight and manages to block a swipe, just barely noticing Khara holding out something to her.
Holding her sword out to Byx.
Holding the Light of Nedarra out to Byx.
Byx uses it, and the sword goes through the Murando's armor. It's not deep enough to kill, not yet. But Byx pushes it in, further and further.
For the dairnes!
