i always put all sherlock, jim and mycroft in ravenclaw tbh but mycroft fits better as a slytherin (with irene there too)
like ok i sort characters based on what they want (or what they have, because they wanted it at one point to achieve it) and yeah jim is powerful but he doesn’t do the things he does, orchestrate grand crimes and stuff, because he wants power - he does it because he wants an equal, which he finds in sherlock. both he and sherlock want an intellectual equal, want to exercise their brains, and that seems textbook ravenclaw to me
mycroft doesn’t want to be smarter. he’s already clever. he likes to be in control - we don’t know a whole lot about what the fuck he does and how he got there, - acd canon it’s just cuz he’s really smart and /can/ - but it’s different from moriarty’s seemingly incidental power. mycroft worked his way up to a position of influence because he wanted a position of influence. + fraternity is very much a slytherin trait, which is confused for hufflepuff a lot. he cares about his brother because sherlock understands him to some level. slytherins don’t give 2 shits about someone outside their circle and i just have a lot of feelings about this ok
