Orthodox Christian canon tables
Khuri Daud of Homs, Syria, 1868
This richly ornamented volume contains the canons of the church, including the dogmas of the Holy Apostles, the Seven World Councils and the laws of the patriarchs and kings. The style of painting and writing reflects Ottoman Turkish influences.
The scribe humbly "begs all the Worthy who may look over this book to excuse [him] on account of the many badly written letters and lines which are not straight, as perfection can only be ascribed to God alone."
