Why do I love Marina from Splatoon 2 so much?

Well, it’s certainly not her looks because I definitely wouldn’t have cared at all about her if her style & personality didn’t almost completely match mine. Super attractive women isn’t uncommon at all in video games so it’s usually easy to miss if you’re not the kind of person to gush over curves or 6 packs. Not to mention that I think Pearl is awesome for her spunkiness and humorous personality and I like her allot for that; makes me want to see more of her.

Nah, my reasons are a little deeper than that.

When it comes to characters in general, my favorite character is always going to be the one i relate to the most and can picture myself as (with the exception of cute male characters XP). Good example is the mario franchise, Even though I think Rosalina is beautiful and rocks my favorite color, I always choose Daisy over Rosalina because of her personality and reputation which is pretty darn similar to mine. 

But, compared to every other character that exists in the entire nintendo universe, there is literally no other character in existence that can represent me more than Marina.

I swear, I’m not just saying this. We have so many similarities it’s scary.

1. We’re both musicians.

2. We both can DJ and produce music - here’s your proof 

3. We both can sing - I don’t share my singing voice on the internet yet so only my RL friends would know this.

4. We’re both smart and have easygoing personalities.

5. Everyone thinks we’re cute and loves us too much - Almost everyone I’ve met tells me that I’m cute like it’s a known fact, but I think it’s because I’m youthful and don’t look my age. Even my older brother, who’s like, the edgiest person I know, never teases or insults me with words harsher than “imbecile” because he feels like swearing at me is a crime, according to him.

6. We’re both black.

7. We both have a unique sense of fashion - I’m really into the belly shirt & baggy pants/shorts combo myself but I tend to wear my belly shirts over a tank top because I’m too self conscious about my stomach.......well that and my dad won’t let me wear them without one anyway. T_T

8. We both prefer Ice cream over cake. - Got sick of cake after a while. ¬_¬ 

This is just what I’ve gotten from just a trailer and a demo so far. 

I know there’s allot more that we don’t know about her, especially since she’s an octling in an inkling territory, but with more than several truly relatable traits found from just her debut, It’s safe to say that Marina is basically me as an octling. XD

Wanted to make something for Christmas this year.

This is also my finals project for my music production class in college.

I still wanna do a little bit more with this before I bring it to soundcloud. Until then, enjoy this wip version. :D

Was playing around with samples & effects and revamped the Capcom jingle by accident. XD

Because this sample is apart of another project that I’m working on, It’s longer and doesn’t end on a soft chord like the original, but the sample itself should give you a good dose of nostalgia.
