Yo, so back in the day there was this cool game called Age of Mythology, and it was mythically good, nawmsayin? Haha just kidding that joke was dumb.
Anyway, at this point in my life I didn’t really care about playing the game properly or understanding the mechanics of it on a deeper level so I just cheated a lot. The late Ensemble Studios was really cool about interesting cheats. One of my favorite cheats is from age of empires two. I would set the rally point from my town centre to the middle of the enemy base and spam machine-gun race cars until I won. It would sort of look like this:
However I would Control-V the cheat over and over so my mini map had this huge blue line of death cars going from one end of the map to the other. When they were done I didn’t even use the same cars, I would just set my rally point to the other enemy base and do it again.
So in age of mythology you had cool god powers and stuff. I liked to play as the Atlantans. They had cool units and interesting mechanics but their god powers were cooler. I used cheats to give myself a whole bunch of uses of these powers which I would then use to fill the whole map with spider traps so nobody could move anywhere. If you worshipped Kronos then you had something called “Time Shift” where you could move your buildings anywhere in your line of sight, so I used to build a bunch of buildings in my base and then send a ship to an island and just move all my buildings there at once. It left a big wall encircling a whole bunch of empty space where my base used to be, but I didn’t give a shit because I was eleven.
