Since the house had JUST been cleaned, and AB went down for her nap before having a chance to blow through it like a tornado - here are some snaps of Annabelle’s playroom!
Her playroom is a bright (because it’s a sunroom!), warm & colorful little annex of our house - where I’ve been able to go in a very fun, but separate design direction from her nursery. As mentioned before in my nursery post, I wanted her bedroom to feel calm & serene - but a playroom is a totally different animal.
The room really grew around the teepee, which was her 1st birthday present & came from The Land of Nod. From there, I re-used Jonathan Adler for JC Penney curtains we already had (I always hold on to extra curtains, I am always changing them out between rooms or apartments over the years and have quite a collection). They worked PERFECTLY because they were clean & crisp with the black greek key outline - which played off the black stems & frenetic print of the teepee. I also chose to go with clean, black decals for the ABC's on the closet doors for this same reason. The Teepee is the focal point & the decals are meant to educate, not be overly complicated - so simple was better. The bookshelf & desk will be familiar to many as they’re good ol’ Ikea, and perfectly suitable for what they need to be. The desk / office aspect of the playroom hasn’t really taken off yet, but it’s a nice spot to store the play bins under while we figure that out.
The best thing about the playroom, really, is that it has such a GOOD VIBE. It’s definitely our happy place in the apartment. #Sorrynotsorry the drought has given us many, many sunny days in San Francisco, and the sunshine and warmth streaming in make it so inviting. On any given day, you can find Annabelle pulling out ALL of the books, me with a cup of coffee, and Lily (our cat) splayed in front of the glass doors, sunbathing. The only thing that might trump that scene is when you + a dad and - a mom because she’s sleeping in on the weekend :)
