“ The teachers were taking some of my classmates to Genosha…….they didn’t think I was…..strong enough….to go…”
The reason was far more than that, though they didn’t tell him. He thought it had to do something with his migraines. They had been rare when he was little, but in recent years, they had come more often. It radiated from the scar on his forehead, and spread until he his whole upper body ached. He couldn’t see, there was a loud ringing in his ears. It took him several hours to get back to normal.
And then there was his reaction to…..banging sounds. He would freeze up, his body breaking out in a cold sweat….as his mind dragged him back to those horrible nightmares. Nightmares of people in zebra striped costumes trying to eat him….trying to kill him….
The real reason he wasn’t taken there……was because the last time a clone of Apocalypse went to Genosha, the Brotherhood kidnapped him. There wasn’t the eagerness to repeat the same mistake twice in a row.
He didn’t mind…..really. He needed time to study, anyways. History was his favorite subject, but he needed someone to ask him questions from the book to make sure he got the info right.
“ I think I know most of it…..but….can you ask me a few questions from the book? We’re having a test on it, and I want to make my aunts happy by getting a good grade.”
“Oh yes, Rachel mentioned the trip this morning.” Ororo hummed thoughtfully for a moment and made a mental note to inquire as to just why Morgan had been left behind. She didn’t believe he was lying, it was possible he didn’t know all the factors that went into the decision, either way, she had a strong hunch there was more to it. The Brotherhood was a possible danger, but that didn’t seem like cause enough to single him out from the rest of the class.
How busy had she been that the question needed to be asked? She couldn’t even recall the last time she’d looked at the reports on his progress. Guilt washed over the headmistress, Morgan was under her care and a special case among the student body, no matter how frantic things became his well-being shouldn’t get lost in the shuffle. With a subtle nod, she silently vowed to do better by the boy.
With the cat slinking away and Morgan settling in Ororo cleared some space on the desk for his things. “Of course, I don’t mind quizzing you. Your diligence is commendable, Morgan. I’m sure your aunts would be proud to know you’re working so hard. What are you studying in history this semester?”
