“Pause.” Naruto groaned, eyes rolling as he turned to face Sasuke on the street. Sasuke went right to checking Naruto’s appearance meticulously—tidying a collar, tightening the tie, tweaking the tie clip, pulling each sleeve to peek out just so from beneath the sleeves of the blazer.
“Wish I could ditch this jacket,” Naruto grumbled.
“Blazer,” Sasuke corrected. “Even though I—”
“Asked me multiple times to get a sport jacket,” Naruto interjected to finish. “Yadda, yadda, what’s the difference?” Thinking better of that question, Naruto quickly added, “Don’t answer that,” for Sasuke would explain, and had already explained, the difference.
Sasuke’s lips quirked into a smirk. “Give it time. At some point, no one will care anymore,” he promised as he tugged each of his own sleeves in turn. “Alright...”
“Alright...” Naruto parroted. Bringing his only friend to an upscale soiree that his father has demanded he attend seemed like the only choice for his sanity, but it was also the choice Sasuke’s father would detest the most, and that made it even more worthwhile. They entered, each with a hand in one pocket—truthfully, Naruto was just mimicking Sasuke to fit in—and appraised the first room. Sasuke was pleased to see a diverse crowd.
“Bar,” the two uttered in near unison, and they headed straight for it.
