Angels, unicorns & rainbows
In the the midst of it all,
There is naiveness, and gosh it’s beautiful
The small hands and curious eyes ,
The loud laugh, and the grumpy tears,
Late at night, tucked in and fed
Cozy and delightful,
The separation from the warmth of your fathers bed to the new bed of your own
You can’t seem to let go,
“What if I have a nightmare?” You ask, with sad eyes
Looking at me to say “you can just come in our bed”, to the comfort you know and love
To the warm ness of our bed, I know how hard the separation is,
But I look at you, with straight eyes, and say
“You pray”
Confused and sad you say ask “what’s praying?”
And well sweet girl,
Praying, praying is what’s helped me feel better every single time
So I hold your hand and I teach you,
“Dear God, I ask you to please fill
These room with angels, unicorns and rainbows to protect me from any nightmare. And if I do have a nightmare, I will remember how great you are God, and how strong. Thank you for today and tomorrow. Amen.
That’s the naiveness, praying without truly knowing,
But hoping,
It’s bliss.
But that’s the start of faith I suppose ,
Praying without really knowing,
So I pray you always keep on praying,
Because one day,
The nightmares will be reality,
Will be bad decisions and unwanted open doors,
Or even unintentionally wrong paths,
And that is when you pray for more than protection but for strength,
And those angels , unicorns and rainbows will be there to protect you.
