Supercorp telling stories to her daughter about how they met for the first time
“Okay, kiddos, time for a bedtime story,” Kara says, sitting down with Kieran and Astra. “What do you two want? Goodnight Moon? Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes?”
“Can you tell us the story of how you and Mom met?” Astra asks, pulling her blanket around her shoulders like a cape.
“Yeah!” Kieran agrees enthusiastically. “You saved her life, right, Ieiu?”
“I did,” Kara agrees. “We should get your mom in here to tell the story right.”
“MOOOOOOOM!” Kieran immediately bellows at the top of his lungs. “COME HEEEERE!”
Kara laughs. “I wasn’t exactly thinking of calling her like that, but I guess it works.”
“Something wrong?” Lena asks, stepping into the bedroom. “I thought it was time for a bedtime story.”
“That’s the plan, but the kids want the story of how we met,” Kara replies. “I figured we should tell it together.”
“Sounds good to me,” Lena says, smiling as she sits down at the end of Kieran’s bed. “Get into bed, both of you, and we’ll tell you the whole story.”
“Was it love at first sight?” Astra asks, bounding into her bed.
“Well, I definitely thought your mother was beautiful,” Lena says, as Kieran gets into his own bed and waits eagerly for the story. “What about you, Kara, was it love at first sight?”
“I don’t know if I believe in love at first sight,” Kara replies. “But from the first moment I saw you, I knew you were going to be important to me.”
Lena smiles, and both of the children go, “Awwwww!”
“But tell us the details,” Kieran says, bouncing up and down. “What were the details, Ieiu?”
“Well,” Kara says, sitting down on Astra’s bed, “it all started when your uncle Lex tried to kill your mother...”
Future supercorp kids in the present with their not yet moms
The arrival of the Legion ship is a shock, given that the Legion ship is supposed to be in a hanger at the DEO desert facility. The arrival of the Legion ship looking beat all to hell is even more surprising. Kara watches its descent with a frown. Next to her, Brainy is frowning even more deeply, obviously trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Kara wonders if he’s having any more luck than she is.
The Legion ship touches down, and almost immediately, the doors open. Two kids stumble out, a boy and a girl who both look to be around seventeen. “Oh, great,” the boy mutters to the girl, “we’ve got a welcoming committee.”
“We know you told us to be careful, and we tried, honest,” the girl says, stepping forward. “But we got attacked, and it wasn’t our fault. We’re sorry, Uncle Brainy.”
“Are you mad, Ieiu?” the boy asks warily.
Kara and Brainy stare at each other, both wide-eyed. “Who are you kids?” Kara asks after a moment.
It’s the kids’ turn to stare at each other, panicked. “You put in the year, didn’t you?” the girl demands.
“I thought I did!” the boy replies. “It’s supposed to be 2042.”
“It’s 2020,” Kara corrects.
“Oh, no,” the boy groans, burying his face in his hands. “Mom and Ieiu are going to kill us.”
“To say nothing of Uncle Brainy,” the girl agrees.
“Who are you?” Kara repeats, although she thinks she might have figured out at least some of it. The boy called her “ieiu,” which is Kryptonian for mom, and the girl called Brainy “Uncle Brainy,” so it seems like these are future kids of hers. The question is, who’s their other parent? The boy mentioned a mom, but who is it?
“We’re your kids,” the girl explains. “I’m Astra, that’s Kieran.”
“Are you sure we should be telling her this?” Kieran asks.
Astra shrugs. “We’ve already screwed up the timeline. We might as well go for it.”
“Eh, fair enough,” Kieran agrees.
“But who’s your other mom?” Kara demands.
“Oh, jeez, are they even dating yet?” Kieran asks.
“I don’t think so,” Astra replies. “Oh, Uncle Brainy is so going to kill us.”
“I doubt my future self will do any such thing,” Brainy replies.
Astra shoots him a grateful look. “I’ll remind him you said that.”
“Who’s your other mom?” Kara asks again.
The kids look at each other. “Lena Luthor,” Kieran finally says. “Our other mom is Lena Luthor.”
And that... Well, if Kara thought the Legion ship arriving was a shock, it’s got nothing on this one.
Technically, Kara isn’t biologically related to either Kieran or Astra. That doesn’t matter, of course, and she’s still entirely their mother, but they don’t actually share any blood.
But anyone looking at Kara and Kieran might think otherwise.
Somehow, despite not sharing any DNA, Kieran has managed to inherit both Kara’s recklessness and her inability to not act when she sees someone in danger. Both things make him a good superhero, but they both also give his mothers daily heart attacks. Every time Kieran risks himself for someone else, it makes his mothers want to scream.
And when Kieran risks himself for Kara, after she solar-flares and is knocked out... Well, Lena doesn’t think she breathes until she sees the two of them safe again.
By the time Kara wakes up, everything’s been dealt with by Kieran and the DEO. She looks around blearily, blinking until she finally focuses on Lena’s face.
“What happened?”
“You solar-flared,” Lena explains. “And then you got knocked out, so your son gave me a heart attack by going into the heart of the fight to save you.”
“What else was I supposed to do?” Kieran protests, as he’s done every time Lena’s tried to scold him for being insanely reckless. “Ieiu needed me.”
Kara smiles weakly. “Like parent, like child, I suppose. That’s the same excuse I always use when Lena or Alex get mad at me for risking myself.”
“You two are going to turn all of my hair gray,” Lena complains.
“You’d look cute with gray hair,” Kara replies.
Lena rolls her eyes. “Are you two done scaring for today? I’ve got work I need to do.”
“Go do your work,” Kara says, kissing Lena’s cheek. “Kieran and I have things handled here.”
“That’s what I’m afraid of,” Lena groans, but she kisses Kara and then the top of Kieran’s head. “I love you, both of you.”
Kieran smiles. “Love you too, Mom.”
“Love you, Lena.”
Lena leaves, and Kara turns to Kieran. “You really ran into the heart of the battle to save me?”
“I had to,” Kieran replies defensively. “It’s what you would have done.”
Kara sighs. “Maybe I’m not as good a role model as I thought I was.”
Supercorp, and their kids going on family vacations every year.
“You’re not buying a house for us in Greece, are you?”
Lena sighs. “No, Kara, I’m not buying a house, I’m just looking for a place to rent.”
“Okay, good,” Kara replies. “Because we’ve already got the villa in Italy, and the house in France, and the house in National City, and the apartment in Metropolis, so we really don’t need another house in Greece.”
“I want a house in Greece!” Kieran protests. “I love Greece!”
“We haven’t even gone yet, Kieran.”
“Well, I know I’m gonna love it.”
“I wish we’d kept the house in Croatia,” Astra puts in. “It was nice. The view was amazing.”
“It wasn’t for sale,” Lena replies. “I would have bought it if it were.”
“Lena.”
“The children approve!” Lena cries. “You’re the only one who doesn’t want houses everywhere. We travel enough that it makes sense.”
“We tend to visit each place once,” Kara counters.
“Except France and Italy, where we have houses.”
“Can we just plan our trip to Greece?” Kieran protests. “I wanna go to Greece!”
“We’re going to Greece,” Lena agrees with a laugh. “Do you want to help me pick out a place?”
“Yeah!”
“Me too!”
Kieran and Astra both crowd around Lena, peering over her shoulders. “Now,” Lena says, “your mother says we can’t buy a house, but if we find one for sale that seems just right…”
Supercorp kids accidentally travels back in time and meet their parents.
“Uncle Brainy is gonna kill us.”
“Uncle what?” Kara demands as Lena reaches for her wine glass and downs it all in one gulp. She told herself she wasn’t going to drink too much on this date, but she’s pretty sure that’s not going to happen.
It puts a hell of a lot of pressure on a first date when two teenagers pop out of nowhere claiming to be your future children.
The girl and boy look at each other warily, then the boy sighs and sits down in their booth next to Kara. The girl sits next to Lena, rolling her eyes. “You know, they might not want us to crash their date,” she says.
“We need someone to help us get back to our time,” the boy counters. “And between Mom and Uncle Brainy- You guys do know Uncle Brainy, right? We’re not that early?”
“We know Brainy,” Kara says faintly. “You call him Uncle Brainy?”
“We call all your friends aunt and uncle,” the boy says, waving a dismissive hand. “Anyway, between Mom and Uncle Brainy, we should be able to figure something out.”
“If you call her Mom, what do you call me?” Kara asks curiously.
“Ieiu,” the girl replies. Kara’s eyes go wide. “You raised us to know about our Kryptonian heritage, even though we’re biologically human,” the girl continues.
“Why are you telling her that?” the boy hisses.
The girl shrugs. “You told her something, I told her something.”
“Maybe,” Lena says, setting down her glass, “you should both stop telling us anything and we should just get straight to figuring out how to send you back to the time you belong in.”
The boy and girl look at each other, shamefaced. “Yeah, probably,” the boy agrees. “Sorry to crash your date.”
Lena looks at the children - their children - and then at Kara. “It’s alright. Something tells me we’re going to have more.”
“So, Titanic is your favorite movie?” Kara asks Lena as they get the popcorn and snacks ready in the kitchen.
“It is,” Lena replies. “For a long time, I hated it. My mother drowned, so seeing a ship sink and almost all of its passengers drown was horrible for me. But I was drawn to the romance, and so I kept watching it, and eventually, I was able to get to the end without flinching.”
Kara stares at her. “Oh my God, Lena. Do you not want to watch the movie tonight? We could pick something else!”
“I want to watch it. It is my favorite movie,” Lena replies. “It’s alright, Kara. I like the movie, really. But I might not watch all of the ending.”
“Of course,” Kara agrees. “Of course, whatever you want.”
“Mooooooom!” Kieran calls from the living room. “Where’s the foooooooood?”
Lena’s lips curve into a smile. “Be patient, Kieran. We’ll be there in a minute.”
“Yeah,” they can hear Astra mimic, “be patient, Kieran.”
The statement is swiftly followed by the sound of a pillow smacking into a person’s face.
“We should probably go out and start the movie,” Kara says in an amused voice. “If we want to watch it before our kids murder each other, at least.”
I'm so glad you're writing again! You deserved the break but I missed you! Can you write something where the supercorp twins somehow get taken back in time and they meet Astra’s namesake (bonus if the encounter changes the course of history and Astra is still alive when the twins get back to their own time)?
Going back in time is... Well, it’s weirdly common for a lot of the people the twins know, which probably says something about them and the company they keep. This is actually the second time it’s happened to the twins, although the first was when they were so young they hardly remember it.
This time, though, they’ve gone further back. This time, it seems to be around 2015, and their ieiu is just starting to work as a superhero while their mom hasn’t even come to National City yet. And, for some reason, they’ve been transported into the DEO desert facility, so they’ve had to do a lot of sneaking around to make sure no one notices them.
“Who are you?” a voice demands when the twins duck into the closest room. They thought this room was empty. Instead, there’s a woman in a cell behind them, a woman who looks just like their grandmother Alura, but with a streak of white in her hair.
It seems they’ve gone far back enough that Astra’s namesake, their great-aunt, is still alive.
“Um...” Astra looks over at Kieran nervously. “We’re...”
“We’re from the future,” Kieran says boldly. “We’re Kara’s children.”
Great-Aunt Astra blinks, then frowns. “How do I know you’re telling the truth?”
“Do you still have your spy beacon?” Kieran asks in fluent Kryptonian. “Ieiu told us about it. She told us how much she loved you, and about what happened on Krypton. She told us all about who you were. How would anyone else know that?”
Great-Aunt Astra’s eyes narrow. “Perhaps you’re her friends and she told you.”
“My brother is telling the truth,” Astra cuts in. “We’re from the future. Your niece Kara Zor-El is our mother.”
Great-Aunt Astra drums her fingers on the wall of her cell. “If you’re from the future, tell me if I win.”
The twins share a look. “You don’t,” Kieran finally says, switching back to English. “But the planet is okay. There are better ways to fix things, Great-Aunt Astra. If you really want to help people, you need to work with them. Humans can do more than you think.”
Great-Aunt Astra purses her lips. “Do you two need help to escape from here?”
“We just need a minute to reset our time beacon,” Kieran replies. “Once we do that, we should be able to open a portal back to our time.”
Great-Aunt Astra nods. “Good luck. And if you truly are my niece’s children... tell her I love her, and I’m sorry I’m gone.”
The twins look at each other, startled. Great-Aunt Astra laughs bitterly. “You used the past tense to describe me. I’m dead in your time, aren’t I? Tell Kara I’m sorry.”
“She always loved you,” Astra says quietly. “She named me after you.”
Great-Aunt Astra’s face softens a little. “Be better than I was, then.”
Astra nods, and Kieran resets the time beacon. A moment later, a portal appears in front of them, and with one last glance at their great-aunt, they both step through.
“Where were you two?” Kara demands the second the come out the other side. “Or should I say, when were you two? You know you’re not supposed to mess around with time travel! And on today, of all days? You know we’re going to Krypton! Do you want to miss your grandmother and great-aunt’s birthday?”
“Sorry, Ieiu,” both twins chorus, then they freeze.
“Wait,” Astra says, “did you say grandmother and great-aunt?”
“They are twins, after all,” Kara replies. “Come on. If we leave now, we can make it there in time to wish them both a happy birthday at sunrise, as we planned.”
“Kara!” Lena calls from the next room. “I could use a hand with the bags!”
“Coming!” Kara calls back, already rushing out of the room.
Kieran and Astra look at each other for a long moment. “So,” Kieran finally says, “it seems like Great-Aunt Astra is alive now.”
“Yup,” Astra agrees. “I think we changed the past.”
“Come on, you can do it! Ma-ma. It’s not that hard. Ma-ma!”
“Maybe you’re just pushing the wrong language,” Kara suggests. “Maybe their first words will be in Kryptonian.”
“Be my guest,” Lena replies, gesturing at the twins. “I’ve been at this for days, I just don’t think they’re ready to speak yet.”
“We’ll see about that,” Kara says playfully. She kneels down in front of Kieran and Astra and says, “Ieiu. Can you say that? Are you ready to speak Kryptonian now? Ieiu. Come on, it’s easy. Ieiu!”
“Maybe they’re just not ready yet,” Lena says when Kieran and Astra remain stubbornly silent. “They’re still young.”
“Yeah, I guess,” Kara agrees, rolling back on her heels. “But I’m still teaching them Kryptonian once they’re old enough to talk.”
“I’d never dream of stopping you,” Lena replies. “My Kryptonian isn’t perfect, but I’ll keep working on it.”
“Your Kryptonian is fine,” Kara dismisses. “And- Is something burning?”
Lena frowns and sniffs the air. “Did you leave something in the oven?”
Kara’s eyes go wide. “The pizzas!” She sprints to the oven, but it’s too late; the pizzas are burnt to a crisp.
“Shit!”
“Well,” Lena says, watching with amusement, “it could be worse.”
“Shit,” Kieran says, with a shocking amount of diction for a one-year-old.
