Kiki's master's name is Diyul Obarin. He is a very critical, strict Jedi who is not easily impressed and does not give out compliments. He has a tendency to lack self awareness. His teaching method aims at perfection. He could also be passive aggressive.
He is also one of the number one slave-fighting Jedi in the entire Orer. His entire life's work was fighting slavery. Some speculate that his sometimes severe personality was borne from the harrowing, dire things he's seen. He's a conscientious objector to the war and does not participate. He is opposed to the use of a clone army, tried to petition the council about it, and was ignored.
Diyul's greatest strength and asset as a teacher was his ability to teach Kiki to question everything. Always ask about the source, the motives, the impacts, the assumptions being made. Never take anything at face value or for granted. Not just because people often lie, but because everyone's experiences are so vastly different that they often rely on assumptions without realizing.
He taught her not to dehumanize the enemy. The most vile person in the galaxy is still a person. The second you start viewing the enemy as beastly, animalistic, or not people, you run the risk of adopting their viewpoints (their sense of superiority, their methods/outlooks, etc). Evil is incredibly banal.
He also taught her that some people are simply not worth arguing with. It's best not to waste your time with someone who will find one or one thousand or a million exceptions to the "Don't own slaves" rule, or the "don't kidnap children" rule, or the "pay your workers what they need to survive." Sometimes it's a distraction, sometimes you just won't change people's minds.
Kiki learned a lot from him, but they don't have a good relationship. He was critical and his teaching methods did not mesh with Kiki's learning methods. He also instilled an unhealthy work ethic in her, where a True Jedi must work to the point of self sacrifice. If it doesn't hurt, you're not doing it right or hard enough -- which is why Kiki finds it difficult to rest even if she's "earned" it, because she could always be doing more.
They don't speak. After Kiki lost contact with him at the start of a mission and helped to free enslaved people from the cluthes of various mine lords (a three month-endeavor) she realized just how unfair her master had been over the years. She was grateful for what she learned, but she wasn't indebted -- and he couldn't even congratulate her properly when she was Knighted for the successful mission.
