The hardest part about hahkin dying, coming back to life, and being on the run for several years is that she had to cut her locs. She was wearing a helmet/mask/hood for a while and in the process of healing she had to cut it for medical purposes. So she's been out of sorts but also coming into her own.

When she meets Kiki again is when she starts regrowing them, and they re-bond over her locks.
