Everyone in the company survived the battle and Kili returned to Tauriel. They ended up courting, but only in secret. Kili decides it’s time to tell his uncle, and Thorin isn’t too pleased about what he hears.

“Why didn’t you tell me about this?” Thorin growled deep in his throat, making Kili step a cautious step back.
Tauriel and the young dwarf prince had found themselves deeply in love with one another, spending all the time that they could together in secret. For if anyone found out, it would be the end of both of them. However, after many months of keeping their courtship in secret, Kili decided that he must tell his uncle, for it was hard to keep anything from the brooding dwarf king. His uncle rarely scared him, so it wouldn’t be much of a problem. Kili gulped nervously, before straightening his back and looking at Thorin straight in his eyes.
“I was going to, but I knew how’d you react” Kili mewed, his voice not coming off as strong as he would’ve thought. He may not be the next dwarf in line for the throne, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t stand up to his arrogant uncle.
“How I would react? What about the whole kingdom?” Thorin raised his voice near to a yell, his voice rough and coarse.
“I do not care what they think of us!” Kili stepped forward, with a bitter tone in his voice.
“This is childish, Kili! They will think nothing more of you than a ridiculous dwarf!” Thorin was furious now, his hands clenched into fists. Thorin took a pace forward, so that he was facing down at Kili, his eyes flaming.
“You can not make me love someone else! For my heart belongs to Tauriel!”
“Damn the elf! If people see you, a dwarf prince, with a female from Mirkwood! Hah! They will think us fools” Thorin hollered, his eyebrows furiously furrowed together, his head spinning.
It was downright unfair for his uncle to be choosing whom he would love, for it would always be the elf who had saved him from the spiders of Mirkwood. Yes, she did lock him up, but it wasn’t to ignore that they enjoyed each others company. And now they were in love.
“Are you insane, Kili?” Thorin questioned harshly, glaring at the prince with
Kili clenched his jaw, his mind spinning with frustration.
"My mind is perfectly clear. Because I can see past our races!" He snarled, his eyes beginning to fume. "I love her, uncle!"
"Oh, Mahal.." Thorin groaned, raising a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose.
“I shall leave this place if I must!” said Kili, his voice trailing off as he finished his sentence.
What the young dwarf had said took Thorin by surprise, for he stumbled back a step or two. Kili’s eyes trailed down to his shoes, avoiding his uncle’s eye contact. He would do this often, if he felt ashamed or sorry, and it would often end in forgiveness. But Thorin seemed to not be in the forgiving mood.
“You would leave your home for the elf?” His voice was low now, his eyes dangerous and he became unexpected.
“Look at me, Kili” Thorin said, his voice demanding and determined. Slowly, Kili lifted his chin, his brown eyes looking into Thorin’s blue eyes. They were pleading for his blessing, hoped nothing more for him to accept Tauriel as if she was their own.
“Please, Uncle..” Kili whispered, almost too quiet for Thorin to hear. The dwarf king took a second to run through the conversation through his mind, before he took a deep breath and began to speak lowly.
“I feel that what you feel for this elf cannot be real. For a dwarf and an elf to be together is unheard of, and ridiculous” Thorin began, and every word stung into Kili’s heart and he dipped his head, his breaths shallow and shaky. He could not take his uncle declaring that he couldn’t be with Tauriel, for she became everything for him. “But..”
Kili looked up as Thorin wrapped a hand around his chin, tilting his face to look at his.
“If you are willing to go to such extremes for this elf, I suppose it mustn’t be anything but real” He sighed in defeat, slightly cautious of the decision himself. He spoke the words slowly, but they had escaped his mouth as if he was eager to rid his mind of them.
Kili took a moment to realise that his Uncle had given in to his decision to love a Wood Elf, and as it ran through his head, he broke into a foolish smile and flung himself at his uncle, wrapping his arms around his neck and jumping up and down as if he was only the young, dwarf child that he once was. Thorin laughed into his nephew’s hair, patting his back softly before peeling away from him.
“Do not worry. I will make this work” Kili promised, bowing his head softly before running off to tell Tauriel the news.
