Feels really unreal to finally hold these and see the result of my work. Almost a year ago I joined amazing group to create the comicbook for Lordi's 10th studio album. Go listen Killection, it really rocks!! 🤟

Lordi im Grössenwahn

Am 1. April erlaubten sich die finnischen Horror Rocker von Lordi einen kleinen Aprilscherz und verkündeten gleich vier neue Alben für den Herbst. Nun haben sie ihren Aprilscherz dementiert, dafür künden sie dem Grössenwahn gleich, 7 (Sieben) neue Alben für Oktober an. Also ich weiss nicht was ich davon halten soll, aber ich glaub der Band war es während der Coronazeit echt langweilig. Andersrum wer die Band schon einmal live gesehen hat wenn ihre Gimmicks versagen, und die optischen Blickfänger auf der Bühne nicht funktionieren, weiss, dass die Band langweiliger ist als eine 2 Akkorde Band. Somit ist es dann eigentlich schon fast wieder ein leichtes 7 Alben zu komponieren, da sind ja dann nur die Texte das Schwierige an der Sache.

Ursprünglich plante Herr Lordi sogar 10 Alben, nur dies fand dann selbst die Plattenfirma ein wenig verrückt. So einigte man sich auf den Kompromiss von 7. Alle sind in der Killection Zeitlinie anzusiedeln und in einem unterschiedlichen Stil, so Lordi weiter. Auch sind bereits 5 Alben im Kasten und Nummer 6 ist nahezu fertig.

Jetzt bin ich ja dann wirklich gespannt was da auf uns zukommen wird, aber eines ist sicher, verrückt sind die Monster von Lordi auf jeden Fall. Bin dann gespannt ob die jemals in einer kompletten Killection Konzerttour mit allen Alben in chronologischer Reihenfolge live dargeboten werden. Dass wäre dann endgültig der Olymp des Grössenwahns.

Most notable achievement, won the Eurovision Song Contest as a hard rock group. Finnish Rock group Lordi are almost as old as me! 28 years in the business and a lot of accolades to their name, I covered in previous reviews of their material how their popularity at least in this country just plummeted over time and I do think that has a lot to do with not being able to match the hype after their most successful album to date.

“Horror for Hire” is actually a cracking way to start off the album, that’s a big catchy chorus to lead with right out of the gate, it's got that “Hard Rock Hallelujah” factor feel to it which I haven’t felt from the guys in their last few efforts. “Shake The Baby Silent” is another great track, goes more down the Rob Zombie industrial style of horror music and you can tell that's the influence that they’ve taken but also it's done in such a way that isn’t a rip off of the great one. “Like a Bee to the Honey” is a softer one and you can feel Monroe’s electro rock influence on the track and it makes for a good rock track but it's just not as hard hitting. “I Dug a Hole in the Yard for You” is another big song with dramatic flair sound sweet but being very dark in theme, burying someone so they can’t break your heart, oof. There’s obviously the interludes that don’t do much for me on the album but I know they’ll work great in that live show of theirs, some of their other tracks whilst not being bad songs just sort of roll over your head and don’t hook your attention as much.

The more the album rolls on the more I’m impressed with what they’ve managed to accomplish here there’s so many more elements they’ve explored that pushes back against people calling their whole gimmick a cliche and dead in the water, there is still plenty life in the old beast and whilst their popularity will likely never again reach the peak of what it was they’ve still stayed around pushing and clawing to keep themselves afloat.

Lordi : Killection - Illustrated lyrics comic

Lordi’s recently released 10th studio album, Killection, has been out for a good while, so I can share the pages I drew for the extra comic album. So yes, this was the huge and exciting commission I was working on at the end of last year with two other artists (+Mr.Lordi himself). And these are the three songs I drew for: Cutterfly, Scream Demon and I dug a hole in the yard for you. The comic album came with the limited edition box, but there should be seperate print of the comic album available at some point. I could even take some photos of the print copy once I have one in my hands. But here’s these for now.

Los finlandeses LORDI acaban de publicar nuevo vídeo par el tema «I Dug A Hole In The Yard For You» que llega como adelanto de su nuevo álbum «Killection»

Ya podemos disfrutar del video musical oficial de «I Dug A Hole In The Yard For You» para nueva canción de los monstruos finlandeses de hard rock / heavy metal LORDI.

La canción está tomada del próximo álbum de la banda, «Killection», que se lanzará el 31 de enero de 2020 a través de AFM Records. Una vez más, el señor Lordi, el maestro de la mascarada, nos presenta una de sus ideas, absurda y genial al mismo tiempo.

Tal y como describe la banda este es un álbum recopilatorio ya que LORDI había existido desde principios de los años setenta. Contiene todos los éxitos imaginarios de LORDI de diferentes períodos, realizados con meticulosa atención al detalle utilizando estudios auténticos y tecnología vintage. Así es como habrían sonado si LORDI hubiera hecho música en ese entonces y, por lo tanto, habría tenido el material exitoso para lanzar esta compilación ahora.

«‘Killection’ es un álbum de compilación ficticio. Contiene canciones que LORDI habría escrito entre principios de los años 70 y mediados de los 90. La compilación también contiene una canción ‘nueva’ de 2019″. porque de alguna manera siempre es típico para los recopilatorios».
