Lina was still catching her breath, her back pressed firm against his bed as she looked up at him and recognized the admiration in his eyes as they looked over her. She couldn’t stop her cheeks from tinting the slightest bit pink, feeling as if he truly meant the words. She brushed her slender fingers over her throat bruised from his hand that had been around it, and down over a few spots she knew he’d so purposefully left. She knew she was a mess of bruises and hickeys and yet she felt almost proud to be marked by him. “Then you should mark me more often. Let the world know who I belong to.”

The name that had been written on his ribcage for as long as he could remember had always felt like something of a joke. 'James Buchanan Barnes', the same name that he'd seen in the Smithsonian exhibition a hundred times before. Captain America's best friend, one of the Howling Commandos, died during the war. Sure, it was possible for people to have the same name no matter the time period. But this one seemed plain stupid and nearly impossible. Or at least that was the case until he'd met the man himself when the entire world was going to shit, though that was hardly the time to make proper introductions. And it still seemed both stupid and impossible, the man was just as old as Captain America himself.

Captain America... that's who he was now. It was impossible to ignore a name you could see all the time on your own skin. Yet he tried his best to do so. They were both busy, usually in completely different territories and somehow managed to avoid each other ever since they'd met after Peter joined Steve's side. New York wasn't all that big though, and sometimes it was inevitable.

He'd arrived second to the scene it seemed, since when he landed on the pavement it looked as though the new Cap already had things handled. Peter was was more than content with letting him be and walking away until the man took a gun out of its holster, and before Cap got a chance at taking off the safety there was a web yoinking it up and out of his grip.
