Killer Parents by Intangerines

The only sell you need for this movie is that Nicolas Cage scream-sings “Hokey Pokey” while cursing and wielding a sledgehammer in one scene. Mom and Dad is set in a crazy dark-comedy fantasy world where parents become murderous toward their children in droves, almost like the opposite of Boss Baby, where babies got to game the system.
“I’m not a perpetual killer. I’m just stupid.”
Meet Diane Staudte (53). A Missouri lady, church-going mother of four, a nurse well respected in her community. Behind her sweet demeanor, there’s something else. This woman murdered her husband and son by poisoning them with antifreeze. She was in the process of killing her daughter and planning the death of the youngest one when she was caught.
Oh, and she didn’t do it alone. She had the help of the one daughter she liked.
It started in April 2012. Mark Staudte (61) suddenly died of a heart attack while he slept. Or that’s what Diane told everyone, at least. Five months later, her only son, Shaun (26), died too. He had a history of seizures so no one looked too much into it. It was just a tragedy for poor Diane and her family.
Then in June 2013 came Sarah (27). After feeling increasingly sicker for days, she was rushed to the hospital. She managed to survive with brain damage. Doctors and nurses noticed Diane didn’t seem too concerned about her daughter and told police they believed the young woman was being poisoned. When investigators pulled records from Shaun’s autopsy and tested his blood sample, they found the traces of antifreeze.
Diane confessed to the killing plot. She said she killed Mark because she hated his guts, and Shaun because he was worse than a pest. Both, she claimed, didn’t help around the house and Mark was abusive. Sarah, on the other hand, had college debts and didn’t want to get a job. “I’m not a perpetual killer. I’m just stupid”, the woman told her interrogators. “I regret doing it. I've screwed up my whole family.”
Turns out her actions weren’t as stupid as the ones of her daughter Rachel (25) who was her accomplice in the plot. Rachel wrote the whole thing down in her journal, and when police found it while searching the house they realized her involvement. “It's sad when I realized how my father will pass on in the next two months ... Shaun, my brother will move on shortly after. ... It will be tough getting used to the changes but everything will work out”, she had written in early 2012.
Once she was caught, Rachel told police she feared the younger sister, only 11, was next because neither she nor her mom wanted to take care of her. She also said she was a reluctant participant and testified against her mother in her trial.
In January 2016, Diane pled guilty and entered an Alford plea to escape the death penalty. She was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Rachel pled guilty to second degree murder and was given two life sentences plus 20 years. She can apply for parole after 42 years.
Sarah, who now among many things has impaired speech, read a statement in court in which she said that as a Christian she believed in forgiveness. “I prefer to be a survivor than a victim. I forgive my mom for what she did to me. But she not only took away my dad and brother, but she took away my lifestyle, livelihood and my independence.”
Five Parents who Murdered their Children
John Sharpe
It was the night of March 23rd, 2004, in Melbourne when he took a spear gun and shot his wife Anna, who was five months pregnant, twice on the head with it, then waited a whole day before burying her in the yard. Four days later, he did the same with their daughter Gracie, who was only 19 months old, firing at her four times. He wrapped her little body in trash bags and left her in a waste transfer station. On March 30th, he exhumed his wife’s body, cut her in pieces and disposed of her in the same station. Even though he gave teary interviews begging his family to return, police arrested him after three months. He confessed to killing his wife because she was “controlling”. Her family, however, suspects John was abusing their daughter and Anna found out. He was given two life sentences.
Timothy Ray Jones Jr.
On September 6th last year, a cop stopped his SUV for a routine check and immediately noticed the stench of death coming from the car. They found blood, maggots, children’s clothes and handwritten notes describing mutilation. Jones had no choice but to lead the authorities to a site in rural Alabama where he had left the bodies of his five kids: he had strangled Merah (8), Elias (7), Gabriel (2) and Elaine (1). Nahtahn (6) had been beaten to death. Their father had drove around with the bodies in his car for 9 days before dumping them. He claimed he’d done it because he feared they would kill him and chop him in pieces. He’s still awaiting trial.
Zakieya Avery
Claiming that the devil was in her kids and that she needed to save their souls, this woman and an accomplice, Monifa Sanford, performed a disturbing “exorcism” that required her to stab to death two of her toddlers, Zyana (2) and Norell (1). The two older children, Martello (8) and Taniya (5) survived and were taken to the hospital. The women met in a church and had been living together for a while before the attack. Sanford, who referred to herself as a “demon assassin”, was ruled legally insane and committed to a maximum security psychiatric hospital. Avery, however, was considered legally sane and is facing trial.
Gary Sherrill
On the eve of January 1st 2014, this man from Phoenix, Arizona, was arrested for the murder of his 13 year old son, whom he killed with an ax. Sherrill broke down while being interrogated by police and said he believed a demon had taken over his kid and was planning to eat him. He was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy and was taking morphine for it when he murdered him.
Fiona Anderson
While heavily pregnant and only 23 years old, she jumped to her death on April 15th, 2013. On her body, she had written the names of her three children, Levina (3), Addy (2) and Kyden (11 months), and also Eve, the name she was planning to give her unborn baby. Police later found the kids dead, tucked in their mother’s bed at her house. She had drowned them in the bath and wrote “I love you”, with a heart, on their torsos. The walls were also full of written messages such as “I love them and I’m going to keep them safe.” The day before the tragedy, Fiona had fought with the children’s father over his new relationship and stabbed him, although he didn’t go to the police about it until it was too late.
I was picking up my brothers homework at the middle school when they called the sickest name I've ever heard over the intercom: "Secret Fox to the office please, Secret Fox to the office" Like yo hey I'm Secret Fox I heard you were hiring The best part is I know her older sister who's name is Amanda
