killurself reblogged your post:drawing is not a talent, drawing is a skill...
talent and skill are interchangeable…so drawing is both
my random dude, no.
Talent is defined as an inherent ability. A natural aptitude, something you are born with.
A skill is a learned ability. It is something someone works for.
Saying that drawing is a talent is: dismissive to the artist. It overlooks all of the hard work, the practice. The hours learning, and the muscles built for drawing. It encourages folks to look at artists (and all creatives) as putting in lesser work for their jobs, being less respectable.
Saying that drawing is a talent is: discouraging to non-artists who may want to learn to draw. It implies that they are behind the curve, or that they will never be as good as they want to be. It implies that unless they start out already good, that the door is already closed in their face. This is incorrect
because drawing is a skill, not a talent.
claps my hands, say it along with me
drawing is a skill, not a talent
